You can force an update by going to settings > player info and clicking "check for updates" three times.

Not really. My connection isn't nearly that good and I get mostly 3 dots and occasionally 4.

Most HDtvs have a way to format the screen so that you can stretch 4:3 to fill the screen. Note that when you do that it crops a bit off the top and bottom of the picture, which may be the problem. Someone on this board said it's to re-encode the film. No, it's because Netflix's right to stream the film have run out or been withdrawn. Films come and go all the time because of copyright reasons. Also note that you'll need to change your screen aspect ratio to 16/9 HD as directed on the startup screen after you update to v.1.5.
