Re: New channel idea submission thread

Woodsongs Old Time Radio Show. These are Windows Media video format. I know nothing about what Windows Media uses as a format. I don't know if it's compatable with Roku or not. I look at the artist lineup and would love to see this on my big Sony. http://www.woodsongs.com/showlist.asp I decided to ...

Re: hooking satellite to computer monitor

Is it really worth the cost ? I don't have a dog in this race. But i looked at the prices. Nothing was under $30 and one as high as $125. Add in the cost of shipping and you're probably at $50 or more. If you have to add audio you're at around $80 or more. How great is that monitor ? And the size of...

Re: Traffic Meter Reports

Not everyone knows how to throttle it back down. Not everyone knows the secret screens. Find me one person who uses over 300 GB per month who doesn't already know how to use the secret screens. I don't know how to find the secret screen. ( never needed it ) And i'll bet half the people in here don'...

You could start by throttling each Roku back to 1 or 2-star quality (0.5 to 1.0 Mbps), or using your router's QoS to achieve the same result.

Re: Traffic Meter Reports

I am not a cord cutter per se, but we do not have cable in our house because of the difficulty in installing it. We will be looking at a way to remedy this pronto because of AT&T's new policy. We have the Elite DSL package which is supposed to be up to 6gb download speeds. With 2 Rokus and 5 co...

Re: 3D general discussion

I think its a fad too. At least in the sense that not everyone will want it or have a need for it. People with only one eye or have depth perception problems will not be able to use it. And if you wear glasses its really annoying to put other glasses over them. And there's the cost of those glasses....

Re: 3D general discussion

Yeah i don't think people really want 3D tv sets.
Give people a super price break on 2D and watch everyone buy them instead.
Movies like Avatar may look great in 3D but who cares if the nightly news is in 3D

Re: 3D general discussion

I like that remote.
That's what roku needs is a keyboard remote for channels like youtube.
More and more channels are getting search features where a keyboard would come in handy.

Re: 3D general discussion

I'm not a fan of 3D I think movies that have it depend on it more then on the plot to sell the movie. I also wonder what the long term effect of that kind of viewing will have on the eyes. Its one thing to put up with it for a 90min movie a few times a year, but quite another to have it every day on...

Re: Setup to Record?

If you are a teacher, the RIAA has approved the camcorder method of recording content from media. What you do is set up your camcorder, point it at your TV Set, play back the material, and there is your copy. If you are not a teacher, they don't want you doing that either. So there is your current ...
