Re: Performance issues after 5.0 firmware update Roku 2 XS

I been having problems with both Netflix and Amazon ever since the 5.0 firmware upgrade. The movies are breaking up, or the device simply reboots during a movie or television program. All the Netflix television programs will not advance to the next episode. I have contacted Netflix, Amazon, my cabl...

Is the Roku original warranty 1 year or a cheap 90 days? If the latter, that probably tells us all we need to know about Roku quality.

90 day warranties are the standard for sub $100 electronics items. 90 days is even standard on many electronics priced much higher than $100

Re: Roku's integrity problem...

You can't really compare cable to a CDN, because cable companies also own and maintain the lines between their offices and your house. A CDN is a delivery server, but (generally) has no more control over the lines between them and you than any other provider. They're not at all the same. Roku is a ...

Re: Roku's integrity problem...

What if just a single channel goes out? Do you still call the cable company instead of the TV network? It doesn't matter, you NEVER call Motorola. That's only because Motorola plays no part in the decision on what channels will be available on its STB. Hardware manufacturer = Hardware manufacturer ...

If your cable goes out, do you call the cable company (the company responsible for delivering the content to you) or do you call Motorola (the manufacturer of the cable box)? What if just a single channel goes out? Do you still call the cable company instead of the TV network? Yes, you do, because ...

Re: Roku's integrity problem...

There is finite bandwidth. After Christmas, we saw the impact of a sudden increase of users. For the most part, we are still only using the web for streaming intermittently. With the arrival of services like Skitter and Aereo, we may see people who barely use the internet suddenly streaming HD vide...

Re: The History of Roku And USB

While I realize that CODECs that old probably won't ever be supported by Roku, they could, at least, offer "backward compatibility" support for some of the more recent SD level MPEG-2 codecs (those that installers like DivX and ffdshow support). It seems the Roku 3 only supports HD video ...
