Re: Scene Graph Understanding

I'd recommend walking through the tutorial as a starting point.  That should prep you for trying to understand a more complex sample app.

Re: RSG.unobserveField() - "nuclear option" or not?

Components in SceneGraph are isolated from each other, so while technically the "observer" is the function you register, that function has to be available in the same context as the code that's calling observeField().  Since that code is isolated to the component, I think it's fair to refe...

Re: Markup Grid get focussed Child

You should be able to use one of the subBoundingRect methods to find the position of the focused item.

Re: RSG.unobserveField() - "nuclear option" or not?

why would a random reasonable person think otherwise? Not debating that the documentation is a little ambiguous, but why would a " competent and reasonable developer" think that any component could randomly delete a different component's field observations?  I could understand the observ ...

Re: RSG.unobserveField() - "nuclear option" or not?

will expect "any callback functions or message ports" for unobserveField() to mean the "nuclear option", everywhere in the app... and will be wrong on that (per your experiments?) If you consider that the caller of observeField() is the observer, then it stands to reason that th...

Re: FHD images not being used

I believe, at the moment, fhd graphics are only available on the Roku 4 and the 4k Roku TVs.  All other Roku devices are limited to 720p on the graphics plane.  Are you using a Roku 4 to test?

Re: RSG.unobserveField() - "nuclear option" or not?

So all observers (functions and ports) established from the current context (interpreter) will be stripped for the field - but the ones from another (e.g. next-door thread) over the same field will survive? Correct. PS. here is amusing thought... what happens if one calls observeField() multiple ti...

It only applies to the current context.  The same context in which observeField was called.

Re: Integrating Ad Framework for Scene Graph in Components

Unfortunately, as the examples indicate, RAF can only integrate with SceneGraph via the main B/S thread, if you want to use the default ad renderer.  You could potentially write your own custom ad renderer that uses native SceneGraph components for video playback, but I'm not sure if it's worth the ...

Re: RoImageCanvas Screen Resolution

Unfortunately, no.  The roImageCanvas will not scale automatically.  You'll need to adjust your layers according to the screen resolution. Here's a previous discussion about this in which I provided some code that I use to accomplish this without too much headache:  https://forums.roku.com/viewtopic...

Re: Can we add any node on ad screen when roku ad is playing?

It's not possible if you're using RAF's video player, but technically you could implement a skip feature if you use RAF's custom ad rendering functionality.

If you want the event to fire on every set, regardless of whether the value changes or not, then you should add the "alwaysNotify" attribute and set the value to "true".

Deleting a channel from your developer account will not remove it from any device that it has already been installed on.  That has to be done on the device itself.

Re: Grid with HLS?

Fixed it by making streamFormat to streamformat . Wait... are you saying that ro-graphy is case-sensitive (regarding XML element and attribute names)? WAT?! That's not SceneGraph.  It looks like it's probably a modified version of the videoplayer example.  That aside, XML is case-sensitive, so yes,...
