Re: A new and unique streaming video search engine

Unfortunately most of the content owners do not allow their content to be launched from another app even if it is done by launching their ch. Even if the content couldn't be launched from another app, just an app that provided the ability to search across all the major video services would be a hug...

Re: HBO GO on the Way?

But you are still required to have a HBO cable/satellite subscription, right? No go for cord cutters still? Yes. In fact, I just added HBO GO to my cable subscription when I heard the service was coming to Xbox. While I would much rather be able to subscribe to the service independent of a cable/sa...

Re: A new and unique streaming video search engine

Not too bad. I searched for 10 or 11 titles that I know are available on Amazon and it seems to be pretty accurate, only missing Elizabeth which has been available on Amazon Instant Video for awhile. What Roku really needs is an app/channel that searches across all the major (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu P...

Re: Just Got My Roku and Need Help!!!!

I dunno, if it's this one it looks like the only HDMI port is AV Out. If that's the case, there won't be any way to get DD+ in to the unit, no? It looks like you are correct. The spec sheet I saw did not specify if the HDMI connection was an input or output. As it is an output - and I don't see any...

Re: Just Got My Roku and Need Help!!!!

the T.V. has 4 HDMI outlets AV in and the player has one HDMI The only way you can connect the Roku to your TV - without taking the TV down - is to use an existing connection. Presumably you currently have a connection from your Panasonic BT-100 to the TV through a cable (HDMI or component) that ru...

Re: Just Got My Roku and Need Help!!!!

The Home Theater is the Panasonic BT-100 model and the Pansonic Plasma T.V. is model TH-58PZ800U....Will I have to take the T.V. off the wall? The specifications on that model indicates one HDMI connection. Is that correct? Also, is that an input or output? I am assuming that it is an input as the ...

Re: Smeared picture using composite cable?

It is a direct connection to the tv. The sony connection is in front (video 2) and the Vizio is in the back. I tried both video settings. Neither provided a clear picture. Just to be clear, the video (display) options on the Roku player are 4:3 Standard, 16:9 Widescreen, 720p HDTV and 1080p HDTV. Y...

Re: Smeared picture using composite cable?

Is it a direct connection between the Roku and TV or is the connection indirect, through an AVR? What is the video setting on your Roku?

Re: Roku2 vs AppleTV3 (w/Siri)

it appears judgement day is when iPhones become self aware. Fantastic.... Wonder if the battery starts to die, Siri will say, "My mind is going. I can feel it. I can feel it. My mind is going. There is no question about it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I'm a...fraid." And ...

Re: Roku2 vs AppleTV3 (w/Siri)

I don't think voice command is going to please people like they think it is. Look at it more like 3d, a niche market that is kept in focus by some wealthy people telling you that you SHOULD like it. In the real world it's very annoying to have devices act up anytime you have a conversation. Disagre...

Re: Netflix Backtracks on Splitting Services

It looks like Netflix has decided against splitting off the DVD business.... http://www.cnbc.com/id/44842942 While it might be a good short term decision, the best long term business decision is probably to split the services. It will be interesting to see their next move regarding the two services...
