In the case of Charter, I don't know for sure about the others, if you get your internet through them you can receive EPIX on line for free. You do not need to subscribe to the EPIX cable ch. In fact you do not even need cable TV from them.

Netflix Backtracks on Splitting Services

It looks like Netflix has decided against splitting off the DVD business.... http://www.cnbc.com/id/44842942 While it might be a good short term decision, the best long term business decision is probably to split the services. It will be interesting to see their next move regarding the two services.

Re: Hulu Plus

Are other channels responsive to the remote? It could the batteries in your remote are dying. Have you tried replacing them? If the batteries are good and other channels are responsive to the remote, you might try resetting/rebooting the box.

Re: Projection TV with Roku 2 XS

that's great and I do have that. Another question, if I puchase the Roko 2 XS will I have problems connecting to Netflix in Canada? This is the only reason I wish to purchase this. Thanks Not sure of the accuracy, but here is a link to a forum that lists Netflix Canada compatible devices -- http://...

Re: Those Who Dropped Cable/Satellite

...Is there any combo possible (Roku plus other hardware) that would enable a viewer to record a show and or build a "library" in order to watch missed or favorite shows? I think you have to look at it from a slightly different perspective. As opposed to recording shows and watching them ...

Re: Roku XS HDMI to component conversion?

While I have never used the device, MonoPrice sells quality items and I would guess you would be fine with something like this HDMI to Component & R/L Stereo Audio Converter -- http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10114&cs_id=1011410&p_id=8125&seq=1&fo...

Re: Amazon search vs Roku

Unfortunately of course, Amazon does not currently provide the option to place the movies in a queue on the website and play back later on your Roku player. That's true only for Prime members who want to watch movies that are free under the Prime program. If you buy or rent a video from Amazon's we...

Re: Amazon search vs Roku

I was at the Amazon web site yesterday and they listed some movies (Able Danger and The 24th day) so I went to Amazon's site through Roku and did a search. No listing, however if I search their site they are found. Just asking You are correct in that both of those show up on Amazon's website as Ins...

Re: HDMI CEC Issues

I just bought a Roku2 XD and connected directly to my Sony Bravia TV using HDMI. The Bravia TV is connected to a Sony audio receiver and BD player. I am having the same problem as described below; when the Roku is connected, Bravia Sync is broken and the TV won't find the audio receiver. From readi...

Re: Roku2 vs Sony SMP-N200

....all the big streaming services are there How would you rate the PQ vs. Roku players? A nice touch is that everything you play (Netflix, etc.) display network speed on the overlay when you start the video or pull up the progress bar.... Would like to see something similar on the Roku players.

Re: Are there any 1080p Amazon videos?

That's what I thought. So I'm assuming the quality is worse than Netflix's and Hulu's video quality as the later both support 1080? Resolution is only one factor in determining picture quality; bitrate and compression algorithm are among the numerous other factors. My experience has been that Amazo...

Re: Roku2 vs Sony SMP-N200

I just received mine today and I have mixed feelings. The UI is very slick, it boots up very fast, all the big streaming services are there, and the USB/DLNA functions work very well. A nice touch is that everything you play (Netflix, etc.) display network speed on the overlay when you start the vi...

This is probably an accuate listing of public and private channels that you will find anywhere -- http://www.roku-channels.com/ -- listed in a spreadsheet which should allow for a decent printout.

Re: Nice New Channel Popcornflix

The selection is stuff you'd find in the 99-cent bin at K-mart. I only see a handful of movies that aren't a total waste of time. Agreed. While they have done a nice job with the UI and I don't mind the ad-supported model, the quality and quantity just won't cut it. While they use various models (i...
