Re: roksbox -Streaming Local Media Channel Available for Tes

1. I was never able to get the .xml method to work with my ReadyNAS Duo. Try deleting the .xml file entries in configuration, and see if that works. 2. Roksbox is free for the first month, presumably so you can test it out and work out all the kinks, as people are doing in this thread. After that it...

Re: ?? Two Rokus Can't Play at the Same Time...?

Here's my report: last night, after my daughter stopped watching, we were still having trouble loading streams on the ethernet roku. So I performed a soft reset (Home 5x, up 1x, rev 2x, forward 2x) and then everything was fine. Other forum posts have described a similar situation-- the Roku hangs af...

Re: ?? Two Rokus Can't Play at the Same Time...?

Yah, saw that in another thread. But it turns out nobody was watching Netflix at all. One kid watching local DVD collection from the NAS, and the other locked out of the Roku (Netflix or NAS or Kidlet) but streams that wouldn't complete. I'm going to troubleshoot some more tomorrow.

Re: ?? Two Rokus Can't Play at the Same Time...?

Thanks so much, guys. I'll try both tomorrow. More info on the mystery: turns out that my daughter (wireless) was not watching Netflix, just streaming from the NAS. Although, since we were having troubles on the wired box with both Netflix and the NAS, I suspect it's a router issue. Will report back...

Re: ?? Two Rokus Can't Play at the Same Time...?

Hi! You were helping me on another thread-- :) The problems, actually, are on the ethernet roku. The wireless roku started streaming first; the ethernet is the one that choked-- that's why I was baffled. Plus, the wireless is connecting to Netflix, but the ethernet couldn't connect either to the NAS...

?? Two Rokus Can't Play at the Same Time...?

Help, please. I am shifting my allegiance away from Cable and TiVo to Roku, and now have two HD rokus, one on each of our main HD tvs. We have a media tank, that streams our dvd collection, and a Netflix subscription. Tonight my daughter and a friend were in the basement watching a Netflix movie ove...

Re: roksbox -Streaming Local Media Channel Available for Tes

Many of my photos (above post) are over 3mb. They take a longer time to load (I have my slide show set at 1 second, because otherwise it takes too long), but they do load briskly enough to watch. I'm on ethernet, though, not wireless.

Re: roksbox -Streaming Local Media Channel Available for Tes

Well I have now done a TON of research, and here is the workaround that I have arrived at: For some reason, when Picasa imports photos, it rotates them properly, but doesn't make any notations on the exif file, so that the photos display properly rotated in Picasa, but not in Windows. If, on the oth...

Re: roksbox -Streaming Local Media Channel Available for Tes

Hi, Well, I said I was going to upload my photos, so now I'm back with another question: anyway to get the roksbox application to autorotate photos? (read the EXIF information?) I use Picassa to manage my photos, and that application automatically reads the camera data to rotate photos, but it doesn...

Re: roksbox -Streaming Local Media Channel Available for Tes

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I probably won't make the small xml files, as the pictures are enough to help me figure out which movie I'm looking at. Currently moving all my photos and music. Nice work again. This is very cool.

For others as thick headed as I am: it's on the "details" tab, which I had never clicked before. Yikes. Thanks for not flaming me.

Re: roksbox -Streaming Local Media Channel Available for Tes

Thanks. I have been following your many posts on this topic, and suspected that's what you would say. I will try. BTW-- one thing I really liked about the personal video database program is that it imports the encode information of your files. Is there any easy/rightclick kind of way to view that in...

GREAT WORK!! (some questions...)

I have been waiting for a Roku home media application since Roku first came out, and I am, as of today, an official subscriber to RoksBox. This is not a simple program to write, and I am impressed and grateful. I'm now knee deep into transcoding all my .mpg files to .m4v, so I can watch on my Roku B...
