Re: Home Media Server (Alpha) Release

Ok, I just pushed .bif support to the repository . New Features * Serve up .bif files * Add .bif file path to database on initial media addition or on subsequent scanning * Fixed makebif.py problems with image size and timing The makebif.py changes may be of most interest. ffmpeg spits out 2 black i...

Re: FF error on lengthy video

What are you using to serve up the file? You may be running into a 2G limit someplace (fs, web server, roku player).

Re: Python biftool replacement

timestamp is a 1 because when I set it to 0 the images are off by 10 seconds. I'll revert it in the next patch with BIF support working again.

Swapping the video array around worked, now the bif images look good (at least on the 1 movie I've done so far).

Re: Home Media Server (Alpha) Release

I just added per-user playback position storage. So now everyone with an account can resume the same movie at different positions.

Next I'm going to work on getting bif support back in there.

Re: Python biftool replacement

Looks like a great tool. Good work. I haven't tried it myself yet, but looking at the code, I see some problems: - timestamp should start at 0, not 1 - modeExtension array has all HD and SD reversed Good luck! Thanks! Actually, the video sizes are swapped. That may explain why they looked goofy the...

Re: usability of up key as back button?

My advice is to follow what all the other apps are doing. Up really isn't back though. I think of it as a stack, and up moves back up the stack. left and right move forward and back (think of when you are browsing the netflix queue).

Re: ripping parameters

This didn't work for me. I tried re-ripping Red Dawn using HandBrake and the 'Normal' setting along with -r 29.97 and it has the re-buffering problem after the hour mark.

Re: Reproducable crash / reboot

Thanks! That may explain some of the erratic operation I have seen. It hasn't been as consistent as you report, but I am not currently limiting the length of the description text, I was letting the Roku handle truncation of it.

Home Media Server (Alpha) Release

I have now pushed the new version of my (renamed) Home Media Server project to github. The project page is here . Please note -- this is an alpha release, targeted towards other developers and very experienced users. The docs are incomplete so the initial setup will be difficult. The goal of this pr...

Re: Python biftool replacement

Ok, I finally fixed the 1 off error. I'm going to be releasing a totally new version of things soon, using github, so this will be the last change on this repository.

Re: 10 Beta Channels

I'd like to see more details about the channels -- I'd be inclined to donate more if I knew ahead of time more details on the content.

I'd also like to see a NASCAR channel, that's really the only live show I miss from the satellite dish we dropped back in October.

Also make sure there's no extra dotfiles in there, I got bit by the the first time I did an install. OSX sometimes likes to drop in an unexpected file.

I disagree. It should print something like 'None' or 'NaN' but not bring down the whole thing. Since we are parsing XML from remote feeds it is quite possible that we could end up with uninitialized variables at some point.
