Awesome!

Do you think you could start a Hints thread with all these great tidbits and tack it at the top of the developer forum so they don't get lost and are easy for new developers to find?

If you run mp4info on the fiile, you can get the average bitrate for the audio and video... Add these two together and set the StreamBitRates to the sum. --Kevin Oh! Really?! I've just been setting it to the rate of the video. I suppose at lower bitrates it would make more of a difference than at h...

According to the docs it supports .mov, but remember that is just a container. The content still needs to be H.264

Setup a free account on bitbucket.org or github.org and and share the project that way. You get free storage and source control all in one.

You can add a screen to prompt the user to set the IP or hostname of your mythtv box. See my example at http://bitbucket.org/bcl/homevideo/. Note, I have new code for this that I'm hoping to push later this week, but the IP screen hasn't changed.

It works for me, I'm running DHCP and my own .home domain for the machines on my LAN. DHCP is from a Linksys WRT54GL running Tomato and the DNS is served up using djbdns.

Wasn't it found that the 1-hour rebuffering issue that most people were running into was caused by a second audio stream that the Roku DVP didn't like? I could be wrong, but I do recall seeing it discussed previously. You might want to check into that. Not for me. All of my eencodings had only 1 st...

Re: 1 hr. rebuffering issue

I've run into this as well, after setting up an xml generator for my content, and hacking the videoPlayer example up to display the videos. I'm running apache 2.2.13 on a mac-mini, and it seems to stream fine to the browser, itunes, etc - but I hit a rebuffering loop at around 1hr. into every video...

I already have most of that working. The new system serves up the XML based on database entries. You rescan the source media directories to update the list. I currently don't have bif file generation integrated into it since it is such a long running process.

There is a new and improved version in the works. ETA is when its ready :) The XML files are static, so you need to: * run the bif tool (I'm not happy with the image aspect ratio so you may want to play with that) * run the staticvideo script to generate the XML file of all the movies * edit the cat...

You can define a starting point in the metadata passed to roVideoScreen. I think Netflix uses this for remembering where you last played a stream instead of always starting over from the beginning.
