How do you comment?

I do not see any place where I can either save a comment, or read other people's comments.
There are links to twitter, facebook and pinintrest, but I don't use any of those services.

Re: Roku 3 , Netflix, 25%

Hmm, I seem to be getting this issue as well. Both the pauses and drop in resolution. The drop in resolution is annoying since it's below usable, meaning it's not top end of SD, which I consider usable. And it's not likely local to me, I have Google Fiber, (1Gbps), with a wired connection between my...

Re: Amazon Prime Post Play (Carousel)

I too am annoyed with Amazon VOD & Prime. Here are my complaints in the order I experience them watching a video; ⋅ When just looking to skip forward or backward, I can't resume where I was with up arrow, (old style), or return arrow, (VUDU style). ⋅ Repeated fast forward, or...

Re: Have you seen the Netflix UI's new trick? Do you like i

It seems like it would be much simpler to just cancel Netflix if you are not satisfied with the product. Yes, that is on the table. Usually I give a vendor time to change things. Since I have alternatives, I will give them a month or 2. From what I understand there is an option to turn this feature...

Re: Have you seen the Netflix UI's new trick? Do you like i

Hate it. Thought my Roku 3 was broke. When Amazon Prime made serious changes I did not like, I started using Netflix alot more. I went to streaming services mostly to avoid commercials. Next was to select what to play. With this auto-play stuff, I loose choice. Some people could start a class action...

Re: 4K MP4 h264/h265 content?

Back to the original subject. I would not think 4K video would be suitable for streaming to homes in the next year or 2. However, having the h265 CODEC could be useful, even for 1080p. For example, VUDU stated in the past that their HDX is lower bandwidth that other 1080p streaming sources. I am gue...

Re: I’m cheating on my WD TV Live…and I like it….

I'm a cable cutter, (15 years and counting), and the Roku DOES have decent local media playing. It's not perfect, but good enough for me. Basically I use a small Linux server as my media server, using it's light weight web server, (Lightty), and the Roku channel Roksbox. Now when I convert my local ...

I'd like to see 'Chevron 7 locked' I think I'd rather see 'Chevron 8 locked'. Though I don't know what to do if I got a 'Chevron 9 locked'. I mean didn't the last 2 planets that tried a 9 chevron dial, explode shortly after it succeeded? Back to reality, after some thought, I assumed they were upda...

Re: Roku TV: Amazon now shipping 48" TCL Roku TV to customer

Yes, a test and list of more or less guarenteed to work Ethernet dongles. I just bought a USB 3.0 to Gigabit copper Ethernet dongle, (with pass-through USB 3.0 port), for my new netbook. That cheapy came with 100Mbps only, but can do more than that through it's USB 3.0 port. But, it's probably not a...

Re: Roku TV: Amazon now shipping 48" TCL Roku TV to customer

And regards to the wired, I too would prefer wired. Ethernet is just too straight forward, as well as HEAVILY standardized. However, if they were smart, (irony intended :-), they would have the ability to use the USB connector as a host port for more than simple storage. Then allow certain, (probabl...

Re: Roku TV: Amazon now shipping 48" TCL Roku TV to customer

Seems like an interesting option. Most of the so called Smart TVs are little more than methods for manufacturers to sell TVs. Whence it's sold, they care little about making it better through software updates. Only when lots of people complain, or the government gets involved, (like a feature does n...

Re: MP4 file size limitation?

You don't mention which encoder you are using. With Handbrake, I tend to default using 32 bit MP4 files for DVD T.V. series episodes, as they tend to be less than 1GB. (I do have a few that were 1.2GBs...) But for movies, I default to 64 bit MP4 files. Which is kind of over-kill for DVD movies when ...

Re: Streaming from NAS

Their are many other local media playing channels for the Roku. Some are private channels, which means a special code to add them. Some require a fee. Some have a free 30 day trial period. I use Roksbox which needs HTTP on the NAS, (or PC), to access the files. Roksbox is not the most straight forwa...

Re: About time for Roku 4?

About time? next spring... After the Holiday Sale season so they can unload more Roku 3's and that stick thingy. But by 2015, they need more features than just a faster CPU to compete... like lossless audio support for local network streaming... a real media player app so people don't need PLEX, st...
