Yes, this version of Roku Media Player supports Bif's on USB. Which doesn't work on 5.4. Your Roku 3 must be running 5.5 if you can see bifs directly from USB.

Thanks for the confirmation. And yes, my Roku 3 is running 5.5. Great job.

Re: Roku Media Player 4.1.0019

Was this the version that added the BIF file handling for videos on USB? Also, will BIF file support eventually work on my Roku 2 XS on USB? That feature is now working on my Roku 3 and I like it. (My media server is packed away temporarily, so an USB flash drive is my choice for local videos at pre...

Roku 3 - reporting minor bug for microSD card

Some background. I bought a 2GB microSD card for my Roku 2 XS, works fine. So I tried to find a microSD card for my new Roku 3. First, found that a 32GB card I had lying around did not work, (not that I thought it would). Then tried an 8GB, also did not work. Then tried a generic 4GB, also did not w...

Re: Amazon Music

Well, there is some hope for us. They may get the apps for Fire TV
and their Fire Phone first before Roku. But they already have the
stock Android Amazon Prime Music app running. I played with it,
and it was annoying about purchase.

Re: Roku 3 audio

I too have the Roku 3 HDMI audio problem. Mine is set to stereo and I use a ViewSonic 1080p monitor with headphone jack outputs. Weird thing was, it died after a software update. I am sure it worked when I first bought it. But since the Netflix GUI changed and I liked my older Roku 2 XS GUIs better,...

Re: Roku Media Player

I have a Roku 3 and added the Roku Media Center which allows me to DLNA. Is there any way to change the list view from the folder view to list view? The file name length is limited and can't tell after awhile what file is what. Yes, I know. And no I do not have a solution. My 3 Back to the Future m...

Re: Thanks for being a Netflix Member

Yes, +1 for NetFlix. Of course, many people will hate the price increase... but then their competition is also increasing, (both in quantity and cost). If you are referring to Amazon, I don't see them getting better. They do have a different variety of content, but not enough to make me leave NetFl...

Re: Is Roku 3 limited to 48k?

Yes, that answers my question.

(I only started learning about MP3s 5 years ago, and M4A / AAC 3 years ago.)

Re: Is Roku 3 limited to 48k?

Could you explain a bit about FLAC and the limits you mention? For example, when using MP3, the speed is usually referenced like; 128K - lowesh quality, good enough for things like noisy cars 256K - medium quality, basically good enough for many uses 320K - top quality, some devices don't support hi...

Re: Roku 3 Loses Netflix Credentials

I gave up using my Roku 3 after about a month. (Not forever, just waiting for Roku to get enough patches in place to make it stable.) My Roku 3 has had the following; ⋅ Lost it's Netflix credentials once ⋅ Remote would stop working, requiring a reboot of the Roku 3 and or battery...

Re: roksbox -Streaming Local Media Channel Available for Tes

I know that Apache properly serves movies and bif files under both Windows and Linux. You might want to give Apache a try at least to prove the problem is or is not server related. Apache configuration is a bit tedious but not very hard. Thanks for pointing me to a solution. Apache seems to work fi...

Re: request for ext3/ext4 file system support

When I started playing with the USB port on the Roku XR, I too wanted to use Ext2/3. But, started living with FAT-32. Until I made new videos larger than 4GBs and that's when I got annoyed. Linux seems to have problems with NTFS & HFS+ so thats about when I moved my media to an external computer...

Re: roksbox -Streaming Local Media Channel Available for Tes

In regards to the BIF files: I spoke too soon. The first try was "Dirty Harry", which after renaming the ".bif" to ".BIF" worked. A bit later after renaming all my Dirty Harry movies' BIF files, I tried playing "The Dead Pool", and it failed, no trick FF/REW. ...
