YUP. I forgot what I made my WPA key on my wireless setup so I'm having to restart and reconfigure all my wireless stuff. Bummer. Next time I must remember to right it down. Oh, wait, that wouldn't be very secure would it! ;)

If ALL you want is music, you could try the slimserver route on Linux with Endless' slimroku. TVersity seems to be all the rage in UPnP server on the Linux side. I tried it, but ran into unrelated hardware problems with my RAID and have not since tried again. So I will watch this thread with interes...

Hi Matt. I haven't used an USB wireless adapters, but essentially ANY wireless "bridge" device should work, and if the WLAN in the home is 802.11g youshould be able to get full g speed with a "bridge" plugged into the PB's 10/100tx port. I've also seem raves (and boo's) about the...

'protection', ie RAID-5 size calculating as (n-1)*size, where n - total disks; all disks should have same size or 'size' will be selected as a size of smallest btw, n>2 ! so, for n=3, total size of RAID-5 will be less 33% n=4 - 25% n=5 - 20% n=6 - 16.7% ... n=100 - 1% :D Can you IMAGINE the rebuild...

Re: Interesting post in the Roku General section

I would like a new Roku toy to tinker with! So would I, but I wonder if they're too late to the party? How will they compete with the likes of AppleTV, Xbox360 Live Marketplace, and whatever Sony does with it's rumored launch of downloadable video this summer? And face it, media streamers are in ab...

Hey Thanks Burkhardi. I solved the problem. It was firewalls. When I shut down my Zone Alarm FW I didn't realize the windows FW would startup automatically. Thanks again. GREAT NEWS! Dang firewalls....but you gotta have em. I assume after you got it to work, you let those ports or app through and r...

Hello Matt, Thank you very much for that information. That fixed the problem. But now I have a few other questions. 1. I used a 128MB CF Card for my Swap, but when I check system info, it shows that my swap file is only 63MB. Is that the max size that a swap file can be? Would it make a difference ...

Can you tell me what I need to do to get started? http://www.permanence.com/Roku/forums/default.aspx?g=forum I would start by getting MPlay up and running. Nothing better for watching video on a PB than MPlay. How are you streaming your videos I don't "stream". I store videos on servers w...

But my point is that it HAD been working fine for a long time. I so wish Roku had not abandoned this product. Yeah, me too. I upgraded one of my Linux servers with a gig-e nic card recently, and while everything else SMB and NFS worked flawlessly on my LAN to/from this machine, my Photobridge...

This sounds like the issues some people reported with 2.0.36 from my recollection. Is the RevB 2.0.36 and the RevA something else? If it's 2.0.36, you may want to "downgrade" to 2.0.35.

PS3 is a great device. <snip>The video plays, but with jerky green flashes. Hopefully sony will fix it. The Roku still is the king of playing high bitrate hd mpeg2 material it seems (which is why I have 4). It is definately getting old, but still a great player. Same experience here Darin. Have you...
