Re: Power Supply Vulnerability: HD1000

To answer your question, yes some people put it on a power strip (that has a switch) and turn it off after each use. There are also those who would say turning it on and off frequently (by this method of removing AC in) could also lead to premature failure. However, as unreliable as the supply in t...

I have two servers. Currently both are Mandriva Linux 2007. Server FRODO: (serves music videos via NFS, and some temp space via SMB from which I download divx files to my PS3) ASUS mobo Pentium4 2.80HT oc'd to 3.1GHz (a few extra dnet packets :) ) 1024MB RAM Two Seagate 250's in a RAID-0 using mobo ...

Every time I've try TVersity, I give up. I've tried essentially ever "server" I can find, Windows and Linux. Every now and then I make the rounds of servers and download/install and try 'em out. Seems no UPnP "server" exists that "knows" or can be forced to know the Pho...

Anyone get anywhere with this?

Man, I should have (and intended to) tried during my above mentioned foray into Vista, but flower if it didn't slip my mind to do so. Sorry.

Re: Sharing a folder in Vista?

I figure I won't bother with Vista until at LEAST Service Pack 2, so sorry can't help. Heck, I stayed on Win2k until XP SP2, so I've established a pattern of sorts. So, I broke what I said. I built a new PC (Gigabyte P35 mobo, Core-2 Duo 6750, 8600GT, 2GB PC1066 RAM) and put Vista Ultimate o...

"May"??? Have you read the dozens and dozens of posts about dead Roku's in this thread? I'd say it's not a matter of IF, it seems in essence EVERY Photobridge power supply WILL fail....

Re: Streaming video from the Internet

Is it possible to use the ROKU Photobridge to stream video from the Internet? I know of no commonly used video streaming solution that streams in a format playable by the Photobridge. DG, How about that VLC deal? I suppose that is entirely possible, with quite a bit of work and some sort of front e...

Re: Roku Photobridge HD1000 - To Buy or Not to Buy?

Without me trawling through the threads in this forum, can somebody summarise what problems I may face should I purchase the unit? THE BIGGEST problem with the Photobridge is the unreliable power supply. That can be fixed (as Matt pointed out) 3rd party, and you should factor the cost of doing that...

From my point of view, it may not be professional to comment on the number of units fixed. Let me contact Chris and see what he thinks about it and I’ll edit this post. I don't honestly see why not. Nobody (not even Roku themselves) knows how many units were sold, so it's not like someone ca...

you would think its the type of thing they would promote (having the PS3 at the centre of your entertainment needs). My gawd, if you were to see the emails I've got back from PS3 support and camcorder support, you'd believe that a) they are two completely unrelated companies and b) Sony doesn't giv...

Re: HDV camcorder video plays well on the PhotoBridge

Yes, I have a Sony HDR-SR1 and a PS3. Cool, thanks! Amazing that I can get an answer in a forum for a defunct media streamer in a thread only remotely related, yet Sony web site (and email support for both product lines) can't provide ANY answers! *SIGH* I opted down for an SD camcorder for now. I ...

Under "Set Up" and "Video Format" what setting will give me the best HD .jpg images on my HDTV that will operate in 720P or 1080I? The HDTV is a Samsung HLR4667WX/XAA I believe that is a 2005 model DLP RPTV? It's "native" resolution would likely be 1280x720, I don't an...
