Re: how to look into mpeg playback errors?

Hi, I have a few episodes of a tv program that were stored in mpeg format. The problem is that while a few of them show up fine, most of them show only a blank screen with the proper sound. Is there any way to detect what Roku doesn't like about the ones that don't show video? tia, Christian. If th...

I'm happy that we don't have HDMI, since that would probably mean we would have HDCP also. I don't want big brother saying what I can and can't play on my TV thank you! Check this post out: http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/34579/122868.html (And be sure to always buy an HDTV which does NOT s...

I tried same the other day for same reason. None of my local BB's had it, nor was it on their web site. Neither CC nor Tweeter had them either, though Tweeter did have HD1500's in stock.

All inidcations I've seen (here at at AVS Forum) are that you will be dissatisfied with the performance of trying to stream HD files over wireless. HDTV needs ~20megabits/sec (plus the ethernet overhead data) so even a 54g connection under ideal conditions (direct line of sight) would be stressed. I...

Wish they'd put in more base RAM. 1GB RAM sticks aren't that expensive these days and sounds like this box could greatly benefit from the additional RAM? Oh, great. Now that I've augmented my out-of-date Rev A HD-1000 with a shiny new Rev B, you're proposing they come out with a Rev C to make both ...

I don't know why the Netgear (a 5 port swith according to http://www.netgear.com/pdf_docs/fs605v2_datasheet_23Sept2003.pdf) would give out IP addresses, it's just a switch! It's hard to picture your setup here in text. If you could draw a pciture somehow of how things are physically connected that w...

My goal is to view ATSC .ts files on an HDTV with a Roku. I see all the talk about SMB vs. NFS shares and related bandwith issues. My plan is to hardwire the Roko to my switched 100BaseT LAN. I have a 2.8GHz P4 machine running Mandriva LE2005 (samba 3.0.13a, two shares called "MP3" and "HDTV"). On m...

Re: HDMI/DVI

An HDMI or DVI digital video output is the one important feature that is missing from the PhotoBridge. It doesn't make sense to convert a digital signal to analog and then have a digital televison convert the signal from analog back to digital. Most TVs ultimately display an analog signal. So you c...
