Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

We could drop down into a new view when a song is selected. Does roSpringboard (a type of layout on the roku... not to be confused with our installer) capture play button presses? Of course, if we do that then we can just make Pause/Resume into menu options if the play button is still uncatchable. ...

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

Feature Request -- It would be nice to be able to hit the play button at the folder level and let system start playing sequentially through the sub-folders.. I have 3 eagles albums and I just want to be at the parent eagles folder and hit play and let the system work through all 3 albums.. Does tha...

Re: Advice for Debugging playback?

Bryan, You have some interesting results. I have a limited set of video files that I can experiment with unless I start ripping DVDs. I can say that I've witnessed the problem on videos that have come from sources other than DVDs. I have some downloaded TV shows that when encoded using the HandBrake...

Play/Pause remote button in Poster Screen

I've noticed that pressing the Play/Pause on the remoter while the Poster Screen is being displayed does not send any message to the message port. Am I missing something? Does anyone know a way around this? I'd like to be able to use all of the remote buttons including Play/Pause.

Re:

Also, I've found that with these problematic files you can just FF to the point where they start to buffer (so 1:15 - 1:20 for your example). I've watched a bandwidth monitor when the Roku was playing problematic files and the amount of bandwidth it consumes grows less and less as the file plays. E...

Cause of and solution to rebuffering problem

If you're one of the people that's noticed that after a video plays for an hour or so you start to get rebuffering that happens more and more frequently as time goes on, I think I'm on to something. For me at least, it doesn't happen with all videos. What I noticed with the videos it does happen on ...

Me too, and I doubt you could find anyone who would consider me compute illiterate. :D

Re: Side poster art

el.wubo, I changed the "screen.SetListStyle" from flat-episodic to flat-category and the side poster art now displays. Very cool. I hadn't tested that layout. I like it a lot better than flat-episodic. I've changed it to be the default. Thanks renojim. Have you tried the arced-square type...

Yep, I have two mp3's in there now and they both play.

Side poster art

el.wubo,

I'm trying to figure out how all of this stuff works so I can contribute. As a first little test that I can change something and update the client properly, I changed the "screen.SetListStyle" from flat-episodic to flat-category and the side poster art now displays.

Re: My Music-Stream your local media collection to your Roku DVP

This does not play: K:\Media Files\Grateful Dead\Live Dead Shows\1972\Grateful Dead Live Amsterdam Concertgebouw 5.10.72\gd72-05-10d1t01_vbr.mp3 With the exception of the drive letter, I recreated that path exactly and it plays for me. Of course I have a different mp3 with that name, but that shoul...

Re: Re:

Personally I would rather have different base folders as my different media types are on different drives on my file server. If you're on a Windows machine, you can use a juction ( http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896768.aspx ) to span drives. For example, in your Music folder you ...

jpeg support

el.wubo, On the subject of jpeg support, I think you hit the nail on the head with two good ideas. The ability to just automatically cycle through all the jpegs in a directory, repeatedly even, while playing music would be a great feature. At the same time, being able to manually cycle through photo...

This is great! Not only did the davethomas video play fine, it's handled everything I've thrown at it including the first half of the Broncos/Ravens game - a 2GB, 5MB/sec, 54 minute video. It has rebuffered a couple of times, but that probably has more to do with my wireless network than anything. I...
