Sonica

Yes have the 2.34 firmware. I tried the numerous things (i.e. checked network sharing, unistalled/reinstall firmwar to 2.34, tried running sonica from a network share and then from a CF card, etc.....) still not working????? I think the problem is sonica is not writing the first file necessary (note...

Re: Sonica

Just got my hd1000 (rev b) and created a swapfile. Installed sonica on a network share. Sonica starts but it immediate stops scanning (lower left). If I push play it will list several songs but then crashes? What am I doing wrong? Let me restate what you said to see if I understand. When you press ...

Telnet

Thanks, the users on this forum are so helpful! I'm looking to buy a photo printer which accepts 4 or 5 different types of memory cards and I'm assuming can write a file using that. I assume that when I insert a memory card into the printer a new drive will be recognized (that can be written to) so ...

Just verified with a friend who is MCSE, IIS certified and he agrees with The Endless. He said it is NOT necessary to have IIS (i.e. web server) running to use VNC to browse. I get the ROKU tonight and will try to VNC without IIS component installed, let you know.

IIS

Do you have a Windows 2000 or XP Pro machine on the network (not sure about XP Home)? If so, it can be configured to "serve up" websites by installing IIS. It's pretty easy, and can be found under the Add Remove Windows Components option in Add Remove Programs. I have XP Pro and added the component...

HD 1000 - is it hardware or software?

I read a series of posts which discussed problems users were having streaming HD video (mainly poor bitrates) and I have the following question (excuse my lack of knowledge); Are software changes/updates only going to correct the problems the ROKU has or will newer models with upgraded hardware (i.e...

VNC

Sounds great! Now that I think of it, the IT Department of the company I work for uses VNC software to remotely repair, review problems on PCs. So using it on the Roku you control a home networked PC's to run any software, etc... via your TV and the PB. You discuss "VNC server" and "web server"... I...

Internet browsing

On Roku's website in the HD1000's FAQ's here's a copy of the question and reply: Will you support general Internet browsing, and when? We are planning upgrades for the PhotoBridge that we feel our customers will be very pleased with. However, we can't promise the availability of specific new features

CF card & Internet Browser

I ordered a HD 1000 and expect delivery in a couple days. I currently own several SD cards but do I need a CF memory card for an intial update? If so how much memory for the CF card is necessary/recommended? Are the HD1000's being shipped with updated software that allow the network updating? Are al...

Roku photobridge vs. Tivo2

I guess its a silly question on this forum of Roku owners but I'll ask it anyway. I'm considering a hd1000 for HD display of photos and playing music but Tivo Series2 offers the same service and all reviews I've read of Roku photobridge owners list problems with music functions? I currently have an ...
