Switch

I just bought a 5 port 10/100 Linksys switch for $10 at Radio Shack and a 8 port 10/100 Linksys switch for $32 (buy.com). Both are so simple to hook up and work great. I do not have a need yet for streaming multiple HD so I can wait for gbit switch to come down in price. Question - I ran cat5e all o...

Strange volume behavior

When using Slimserver (one day vs. another day) I sometimes notice that the volume level on my receiver is just not as loud as it normally sounds at that same volume level (say -30 dbls). (Playing the exact song at -30dbls one day is louder then the same exact song at -30dbls the next day). To corre...

I have the same router with no problems wirelessly. Do you have the wireless card installed without the ethernet connected? Mine works with mac filtering but I would try without the mac filtering just to verify you can connect. If nothing else works, maybe try to reset factory defaults on router.

Also, what do you mean when you say that WMC2 doesn't work for you? Have you tried the Microsoft support forum, by chance? When I say it does not work I was agree to previous statements in this statement. Whenever I use WMC2 it plays a song for about 15 to 30 seconds and then skips to the next song...

I've have the problem, uninstalled and reinstalled WMC numerous times, changed router settings, etc, etc. WMC2 does not work for me and contacted Roku and they have no answers. Slimserver, Twonky and itunes all work flawlessly either wired or wirelessly. Roku - just ignore that many users have this ...

M 2000

Circuit city.com has them for $500. Too steep for me, I'm happy with my 2 M 1000's.

Browse by Folder

Sorry The Endless if you addressed this already or if its a slimserver issue but if I select a file to play in browse by folder (and its playing) if I don't exit browse by folder the file will play for say 40-60 seconds and then start over again? If I select the same file in browse by folder and ret...

I had the same problem which was corrected by lowering the volume from 100% ... as I started to lower it (probably goto about 90%) and the volume all of sudden got louder (than it was at 100%). Raised it back to 100% and seems to be fine ever since.

WMC buffering, unable to play

I've tried everything to get WMC2 to work but just keeps buffering, plays 10 seconds of a song then skips to the next. Is a log created that would help detail what the problem is? If so where is it located? Thank you!

mjl, try TwonkyVision so at least we know if another UPnP AV based server will work for you. (It doesn't use the OS's UPnP API, however.)

Twonky Vision worked perfectly, you think its amything to do with the UPnP with WMC2?

WMC 2 was basically re-written. They do, however, both use the OS's native UPnP services. Failing even before 1 track finishes is bizarre and I doubt it's WMC 1 or 2. Also, you never said what happens with other servers like TwonkyVision or iTunes. (As Slimserver emulation throws away your SoundBri...

Really like browse by music folder, in the next version can you include "clear playlist" to menu options (play, add to playlist) when menu is selected in the browse by music folders?

Love showing off SlimRoku to friends and family! Thanks for all you hard work!

Sonica - Time / Length

I don't know what changes I've made but the time : length in the lower right hand corner of the screen is not working properly. Its timing is off and then every so often it skips a second? Any suggestions to correct this?

IMHO Windows media connect is horrible, I've tired everything other than re-installing XP OS (some have suggested this) to get it SB to make it through 1 mp3 file. Roku suggestion was to wait until WMC 2 was released. WMC2 of course did not work, if it was not for slimserver I would have returned my...

Ah! I see. You must be running Windows XP Home Edition. My bad, I'm assuming XP Pro. Actually I'm using XP Pro, so we were on the same page. Some folks (myself included) log in as a domain user (with local admin rights) under XP Pro when installing WMC--which tends to cause SB to fail connecting so...
