Netflix Search on new Apple TV better than Roku?

I just read an anecdotal report from someone who had just purchased one of the new Apple TV boxes. He says (and I can't verify) that the Apple TV Netflix Search lets you search by many more categories than just Title, such as Actor, Director, etc. IF that's true, Roku, isn't it about time you update...

Re: HD-XR setup 720p?

Well, all I can say is, when I bought by box "new" HD-XR was the best I could find. Now, it's not on their website anymore. I guess it just goes to show, electronics are out dated the day they are made. I guess the answer I'm looking for is that 720p is the best option there is in the set...

Re: RadioTime is now TuneIn Radio

There is also an app for this in the Android Market for Droid-phones. I wasn't aware it was the same company. Anyway, it does give me a chance to listen to an AM-talk station on my bus commute home that I couldn't ordinarily get. Plus, it has streams that others (like Shoutcast) don't have. It's had...

Re: Roku HD streams blockier than Apple TV?

They do a close-up comparison of Roku and Apple TV Image Quality. http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/29/apple-tv-review-2010/ As others have mentioned, this isn't an Apple TV vs. Roku comparison. It's an Apple TV HD Stream vs. Amazon VOD HD stream via the Roku . Big difference. Here's the verbiage: Wh...

Re: Justin.tv?

Thoughts: Endless: Fantastic job (as usual) getting this channel online. You do great work, and it's always appreciated. I want to phrase the next stuff carefully, because some might think it's ungrateful, and that's not my intent. The quality of the channels is the killer for me. It's less than VHS...

Re: Not a Roku issue, but Netflix cheaper in Canada?!?!

Text of his apology: Apologies My Big American Foot is in my mouth. Yesterday, I made an awkward joke with a reporter in Toronto about Americans (like me) being self-absorbed relative to Netflix pricing in Canada. I was wrong to have made the joke, and I do not believe that one of the most philanthr...

Not a Roku issue, but Netflix cheaper in Canada?!?!

Netflix CEO makes a regrettable comment when asked why they are going to offer Canadian memberships at a discount to what it costs in the US: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3if1d3902d12574ec222961f1deec0fd2b Snippet and salient remark: "THR: American services when the...

Re: SSID Broadcast Necessary ?

You must have missed the "Use the best security you can" part of my post. Some people still use some older equipment that does not support WPA. I feel they should upgrade their gear but I am not the one spending the money. I didn't miss that. Let's run with that. Because we're still using...

Re: SSID Broadcast Necessary ?

SSID broadcast is not "required"...however, turning it off can cause problems for some people. For what it's worth, MAC address filtering and SSID broadcast disabling really provides a false sense of security. Anyone wanting to hack your network can easily sniff your MAC and SSID regardle...

Re: SSID Broadcast Necessary ?

Agreed with above. Turning OFF SSID provides no security whatsoever. Instead, use WPA-2 with a strong password.

Re: What is the point of reporting Netflix problems?

Stick a fork in me I am done. I see Apple TV in my future. PS I belong to a lot of different forum and this takes the cake for smart asses. Who ever feels the need to get the last word in have at. I hear ya, man. I'm not getting the hate from others. I read the other thread where you got assistance...

Re: What is the point of reporting Netflix problems?

What's the issue with what the OP is asking for? Sticky threads are made for a reason --to highlight common issues, and hopefully solutions. The "Report Netflix Connection Issues" sticky isn't a solutions thread, per se. It's an ask-and-hope-for-a-solution thread. If I had to guess, the OP...

Re: Yet another dead original power supply story

Wow. Was dealing with this problem over the weekend (complete with testing the adapter and seeing it put out 5V even though it still didn't work). Didn't know until now that it was widespread. Yeah, Radio Shack high amp adapters are up in the $30 range. Not sure why so expensive. So, I have an adap...

Re: Some Movies not adding to Nexflix Queue on Roku

Hi Everyone We do know about the issues with some movies not being added to the instant Queue, and it appears to only happen with limited titles. We work closely with Netflix constantly, and this issue is no exception. Please know that this is a top priority for both of us, and we’ll post an update...
