Re: TCL Roku TV's / DD+ issue with Samsung HW-N950

It should work, but you need to actually enable it You should have read the thread more carefully. This is about DD working and DD+ not over ARC on some receivers despite DD+ being enabled and allegedly supported. Ok, well leaving aside the gratuitous comment - I'll say this - firstly, who knows if...

Re: TCL Roku TV's / DD+ issue with Samsung HW-N950

I'm in the same boat.  I just purchased the 75" TCL 6 series from Best Buy this weekend.  I also have the Samsung Q80R soundbar.  I get no sound at all when in the DD+ mode using ARC.  I only get sound when in DD or less.  It's not an app issue, it is with the TV.  No sound from the menu, or a...

Ah, great. I should have thought about the volume control thing, as that's come up before. Glad it's working out.

Re: Roku Premiere+ suddenly only passes stereo

Short of anything else (at the moment) to suggest, I'd power-cycle the receiver.  I have a much lower-end Pioneer Elite, but when I say power-cycle, I mean making sure it doesn't just go into standby mode, but rather full power OFF mode - no blue standby light.  On mine, I can press and hold the pow...

Re: Roku 2 (4205) Poor Amazon Prime quality

Well, the reinstall seemed to make things a bit better - thanks - my guess, and it is just a guess here based on other sloppy coding I've seen (or even written) is that there may be a bit rate setting attached to the device, setup a what was possible when it first ran - maybe it SHOULD update if th...

Re: Roku 2 (4205) Poor Amazon Prime quality

Ok, try removing the Amazon app and reinstalling it. Reboot the Roku after the removal, then reinstall. Give it another whirl.

Re: Roku 2 (4205) Poor Amazon Prime quality

The Chromecast/Roku PQ could be an apples-to-oranges comparison. The reason is that there's most likely different streams from different content delivery networks dedicated to each service.  In other words, the Roku Amazon channel might be hitting a different content delivery network and stream than...

Re: Volume control

Not sure if the problem is on the receiver side, but here's a blurb about how Onkyo CEC controls work and where to find them in the menu:

It previously did pass through Dolby. The tv processes Dolby from Blu Ray and antenna signals. So the tv and ARC are working normally.

You probably should have started your own thread about this.  Question: What is the exact model of your TV and exact model of soundbar?

Re: A minor issue

Questions:

What receiver make/model?
What Roku model?

Roku is connected directly to the receiver? Sounds like it's going to the TV.  Why not directly to the receiver?

Re: Roku Stick not sending Dolby Digital 5.1 to TV

I know you know this, but in the end you're dealing with a 19-year-old receiver and wanting something from 2019 to compensate for it. The Apple TV latest gen would work if you had HDMI inputs on the AVR, as it decodes/transcodes everything in the box and outputs everything as multichannel PCM audio....

Re: Dolby 5.1 vs Dolby ProLogic II

The only Roku player that can take the DD+ and output standard DD is the 4640 Ultra, as it's the only one that had an Dolby Digital encoder . Your options are to find one of the older Ultra models or replace your AVR for something that supports DD+.  Not sure if you were responding to his earlier d...

Re: Dolby 5.1 vs Dolby ProLogic II

The Apple TV 4th generation (latest) actually has built-in surround decoders, and can be set to output standard Dolby. Actually, it does a great job in Auto mode, finding out what your receiver can handle. So it's another expense, yes, but if you can find one used it would be a good deal. Here's how...

Re: TCL Roku TV "USB device requires more power" after 9.1.0 update, nothing plugged in

OK, well, there is a main board for this set pretty cheap (open box "new" from a TV with a cracked screen) for $42.46 on Ebay. You can see the ports seem to match up when you hover over the image on Ebay to enlarge it. After the coax connector moving to the right is an optical port, then a...

Re: TCL Roku TV "USB device requires more power" after 9.1.0 update, nothing plugged in

I found the "Official" thread at avsforum.com for your model. One guy had the same issue two full years ago (August 2017) but no one responded to his issue. He said he was bringing it back to Best Buy to swap it out.  Link:  USB Power Issue Here's a thought - Even though you're seeing that...
