Re: Wordpress plugin for metadata for Roku channel

Thanks!

I exchanged emails with the dev some time ago, and I see many links online to it are now all dead.  Is it an active product?

Wordpress plugin for metadata for Roku channel

Hello all: I know this can be coded, but is anyone aware of any existing plugins (or in development) that may fit this bill? While my channel is already coded to pull some graphics and media from an external xml, having a wordpress plugin on my site where I can enter the channel metadata and m3u8 pl...

Re: ~2 seconds lost on front of HLS stream, delaying caption

Will do.

For what it's worth, Ive contacted Sorenson, and their suggestion I move from a Main Concept based 264 encode to an x.264 encode, where the delay metadata tag isn't present when I tear apart the file. This is on my list to try this weekend/next week.

PM forthcoming. Thanks!

Re: HLS Troubleshooting

Running into some HLS sync issues, and some metadata is pointing to a problem, but I can't resolve it. This is a spawn of http://forums.roku.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=95362 . To summarize, i find when I encode HLS files for my channel (Apple; .ts segments and m3u8 playlist), the first ~2 seconds ...

Re: ~2 seconds lost on front of HLS stream, delaying caption

Many thanks for the syntax. It does appear there is a keyframe on the first frame, so apparently this is not the smoking gun. Any thoughts on the start delay I found via Media Info? Input #0, mpegts, from '/Users/xxxxx/Desktop/hls test/frag-1.ts': Duration: 00:00:06.01, start: 2.000000, bitrate: 664...

Re: ~2 seconds lost on front of HLS stream, delaying caption

What's interesting is that while examining the structure, I came across this via Media Info:(debug, complete) (I'll spare you the entire read out) This is of the first fragment: Duration : 00:00:05.839 Delay : 2000.000000 Delay : 2s 0ms Delay : 2s 0ms Delay : 2s 0ms Delay : 00:00:02.000 So, there is...

Re: ~2 seconds lost on front of HLS stream, delaying caption

Thanks for the input. I, too, came across this note. Those options are not available when dealing with HLS streams (ts - segmented files). If was doing standalone MP4s - yes. I can certainly adjust the keyframe interval....1 second is the shortest delay I can set, so I could try 1, and then bump it ...

Re: ~2 seconds lost on front of HLS stream, delaying caption

I posted this question on reddit, and got an answer. I'm sharing it here in case anyone else come across sync issues: "I'm guessing the issue is that the Roku is waiting for a key frame in order to start playing the video. IIRC, Roku recommends that every segment begins with a key frame (someti...

Re: Subtitles out of sync

Thanks for this. I presume your mention of 24.97 should be 23.98? This raises many questions, mainly pertaining to the inner workings of the system, but the end goal is the same - how is this being rectified now? Or, will any file with a fractional frame rate (e.g. 23.98 and 29.97, not to mention DF...

Re: Subtitles out of sync

I know this is VERY old, but I have subtitle sync issues as well....HLS streams and sidecar SRT files. I'm hoping perhaps whatever remedy you found may lead to one for my situation.

Anything?

~2 seconds lost on front of HLS stream, delaying captions

Hello all: I've noticed that when I encode HLS files for my channel, the first ~2 seconds never play....first frame of action is 2 seconds into the video. I noticed that this also throws off the captions (sidecar SRT), too...they play ~2 seconds later out of sync (late). I tried remedying this by en...

Re: Defining captions (SMPTE-TT) with HLS VOD

After a day and a half of research, and right after I posted this question in frustration, I stumbled across this and it works.

I'm not sure *why*, but it does, and it is really, really, *really* simple.

Defining captions (SMPTE-TT) with HLS VOD

Hello all: This is slightly OT, but I'm looking for some guidance. I have several dozen videos prepped as HLS VOD files. They do not have embedded captioning. As I have the SRT files (which I can convert to SMPTE-TT, etc.), my first thought is to make the sidecar files. Reading through http://sdkdoc...

Re: Zipping files on a mac...

The built in compress option in Mac OS works fine. Select the files and folders, right click (or, use the gear in the finder window) and select compress. Ensure you are not selecting the parent folder to compress...go one level deeper (e.g. just the manifest, source, image folder, etc). I'd also ens...
