If you have windows XP you can do this. First create an account on the computer with the share that has a password that is non-trivial. Then get properties of the share (Right-click, Properties) and go to the security tab. If you don't have a security tab, you need to turn off "Simple file sharing" ...

You're not using wireless or a low-bitrate switch or router are you? When you say it is the wide views that stutter, it makes me wonder if it is a bandwidth issue.
best of luck

I had this problem too. There was apparently no way to get to some content in mplay. Then I found the advanced option that displays all files. Now i can pick the second movie in a multi-movie dvd rip or jump to different episodes just by picking the right file to begin with. It does take some guessw...

I've never had my unit get more than slightly warm even after operating for hours doing movies, music, or music and pictures. It does have more than three inches of clearance on top and no door on the front of my media cabinet. Are you sure you are giving them room to breathe? I wouldn't suggest get...

I'm not a roku guy, but I can comment on your last question. The WMC will not pass on drm protected content to unauthorized devices and thr PB will be seen as unauthroized.
In the properties of my photobridge in wmc it says:
DRM: Cannot play protected Windows Media files

Thank you. That did the trick. I had read all the posts, btw, and had tried to figure out if my jpg's were progressive before posting my question. None of the tools on my system would tell me if they were or not. I tried Windows Explorer file properties, image viewer, Fireworks, and Firefox. So not ...

Most of the several thousand jpg files I have scanned in do not display on the PB. They show a broken thumbnail in the browse view and do not respond when I try to view them. The files are 24-bit color, which is unusual. Is that the problem. How might I find how they need to be modified to work? Tha...

You can actually create file with a leading "." in windows using notepad. This would probably be easiest. * Open notepad * Paste in the contents for one of the two files listed above * Choose File>Save As, choose your destination (the CF Card, if you like) and for the file name put in (including the...
