Re: Roku or X-box 360?

If you're power conscious and/or sensitive to noise, the Roku is the way to go. The XBox is both very power hungry and the fans can be extremely loud. You should also be aware that many (most/all?) of the streaming services available on the XBox require an XBox Live Gold membership in addition to t...

I'm heartbroken that Kim Kardashian won't return my calls Me too, especially after all those nights I spent holding her poster up with just one hand. :D Peace brett Man that is about as bad as the preacher saying he had sex with animals, I might have done it but wouldn't have told it...

Re: Heartbroken former beta tester

Roku, I used to beta test for you, even neglecting my wife on many an evening because "Roku needed me". What happened to us? You used to invite me to every round of beta testing but it's been several months since you've called on me. The last "invite" I got was a survey that i e...

Re: Roku losing Sales

Roku really needs to address the Youtube thing besides saying nothing. I personally know 6 people who found out about the Youtube deal & got a BoxeeBox. Also an assisted living center was going to buy 100 of them for their clients but stopped because of the Youtube thing. Please don't say - &qu...

Smart move....get the XDS and see if you like which I am certain you will. Then in the not too distant future, you can take advantage of getting a newer model for another room in the house. :D Every Roku user should own at least two... 8)

Re: ROKU Video Connection Help

Hello All, I have an older Samsung DLP TV with 1 DVI input, 2 composite video inouts and 3 component video inputs. My DVI input is dedicated to my DTV box, but I do have 1 component video input open. Right now, I'm using the composite video output from the ROKU to an input on the TV with the result...

Re: Ethernet Cable Question: How long can it be?

Keep it coming. We're wiring an old house that we're putting a new roof on for as much ethernet as I can get in it. I'd always heard that plenum was required too. I guess that comes from the time when most network wiring was done in commercial buildings. It is logical that there would be very littl...

Re: Ethernet Cable Question: How long can it be?

In general, how long can an ethernet cable be before signal loss or amplification is needed? It is not the signal loss that's the limiting factor. The maximum distance between any two endpoints on an ethernet can be a bit over 300ft (328?). You start running into signal propagation delay problems w...

Re: Ethernet Cable Question: How long can it be?

100m (300ft) before you have to start worrying about hubs or repeaters due to line degradation. For your particular application, you are well within limits. Cat 5 or Cat 6 are both ok, you won't notice any difference in your connection between the two. I always say go with what works for the least a...

Have you tried a simple reboot of just the Roku? I have had a similar issue before, and just a reboot of the Roku solved my problem.
