Re: Netflix refund / complaint thread

I don't think he's talking about you wanting your money back. I believe he's referring to the suggestion that you shouldn't have to pay more for a service, just because you've gotten used to paying less. Then perhaps you're BOTH confusing me with someone else, as I've never said that, and I've said...

Re: Netflix refund / complaint thread

I am telling them precisely by my action. You're telling them vaguely and ambiguously by your action. Maybe the price is too high for you, or maybe you don't want DVDs anymore at any price, or maybe you are trying to reduce the postal service's carbon footprint, or maybe you're meaning to boycott p...

I pay you for some value you promise, you don't deliver on the promise, I want my money back. That's Capitalism 101, man.

Re: Netflix refund / complaint thread

Or, if you want to go totally overboard, it's technically a 399% increase over the $2 users are currently paying for the DVD portion of the 1-disc + streaming plan. Luckily, no one has picked up on that, yet.. :P Hmm...no never mind. But also, remember that the "separation" of the streami...

Re: Netflix refund / complaint thread

I am acting, by switching to just streaming. That's less total revenue for Netflix. But I suspect that's part of the plan because streaming has a higher margin than physical DVDs. You can act with your wallet as well. That's acting. Choose to change plans, or not, or to cancel altogether. There, yo...

Complaining won't have nearly the affect that a lost subscriber will.

The complaining shows them WHY they are losing the subscriber, and if enough do it, companies often change policies to get subscribers back, or, better yet, to keep from leaving in the first place.

Re: Netflix refund / complaint thread

getting DVDs from Netflix is a luxury kids, that mean's it is something you don't need to survive. A business has every right to raise prices of a service they offer in order to cover their own costs. In fact, they have every right to raise prices any way they want. If one does not like it, one doe...

Re: Netflix refund / complaint thread

As for fair compensation, technically the service was only out for 8 hours, so they should have only reimbursed you 1%, instead of 3%. It's a principle thing with me. I'd have preferred 1 or 2 percent of $9.99 than 3% of $7.99. Else, in the future they can do what Comcast did to me, and say "y...

Re: Netflix refund / complaint thread

Not everything has to be a lawsuit True or some consumer uprising. The market economy depends on consumers acting, else we just get garbage foisted upon us and get taken advantage of with no accountability UNTIL there is a lawsuit. As an individual, ignore whatever you like, spend (or waste) money)...

Re: Netflix refund / complaint thread

Ever since I rejoined for the streaming-only plan, I've seen the notices about adding DVDs for only $2 more per month. So I too interpret it as $7.99 for streaming, and $2 for upgrading to a 1-disc plan. Considering the shipping costs involved (70-75¢ round trip, per disc from what I've seen) and t...

Re: Netflix refund / complaint thread

Since when do they allow class action lawsuits against companies, because they raised their prices? 1, I didn't say this WAS a class action a suit, I said the small reimbursement to each individual could have a similar positive effect. 2, they absolutely do allow class action suits for a price incr...

Re: Crackle Updated

I hate to be positive, but the last few times I used Crackle, I have had no issues whatsoever, everything played - I also didn't think there were TOO many commercials, and was actually upset that the movie I was watching had a better transfer than the dvd I actually owned. I tried it again last wee...

Re: Black borders around Netflix TV shows?

what you're getting is called window-boxing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windowbox_(film) It can occur when a 16:9 film is set to 4:3 (letterbox), but then shown on a 16:9 TV or other output device. It can also occur in the opposite direction (4:3 to 16:9 to 4:3). Ah, good. That will make it easier...

Re: Black borders around Netflix TV shows?

ApK I get what you're saying.. the content is showing up completely boxed in, not pillar-boxed (bars on the sides) not letter-boxed (bars top and bottom) but both. Let me pull those shows up on my TV and see if I get the same result. My tv is widescreen though but we'll see. EDIT: I tried a number ...

Re: Black borders around Netflix TV shows?

Actually, this happens with all players. If you notice if you play them on the PC, it happens there, too. The problem is, the HD streams are actually streaming at 16:9 (the black bars on the left and right are actually part of the video being streamed). Netflix needs to, IMO, on the lower streams o...
