Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

I can try without the router, but will have to think about that. Would that work by connecting my desktop ethernet to the one on the roku, so it can stream from my HDD? Having a time wrapping my head around that. Seems I need to keep some connection, it isn't magic. Would direct from my modem to rok...

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

I misread what you said about Netflix. I thought it said Mediafly has problems as does Netflix. You could still try hooking up the Roku directly to your modem to see what effect it has on Mediafly. You could try my speedtest channel and see what kind of throughput it shows. It's not the most reliab...

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

I will try your video. The ones I've been streaming from my computer to the roku are from our Flip camera and in HD and mp4 format. I've been hooked up via wireless until I started the troubleshooting, thus hooking up wired (no difference). I usually have no problem with Netflix, just rarely, but wh...

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

I've been throwing questions out in another part of this forum about rebuffering issues. I thought maybe I'd get some answers here. Even when streaming mp4 files to MyMedia I get rebuffering issues. These vids are under 1 minute long, and I've got the Roku wired to my router. With debugging enabled ...

Re: Mediafly and Loading... Please Wait

No activity here for some time, making me think that there a)is no answer to this question or b)everyone has solved there own problem and didn't post back. I've been experimenting more with my network and have more questions. First, I have debugging enabled. Noticed that, even when streaming my own ...

Re: connecting through my local network

Glad it worked. I'm curious though if you have to connect with the pc each time now or leave the connection "open". Where are you? I only know of one area where free local city wifi is happening and that's near Bill Gate's place of business.

Re: connecting through my local network

Hi dgrace, Thanks for responding. My problem is that my Roku does identify and connect to the local wireless network but can not get to the internet from there. When you connect to the local wireless network with a computer you get to a welcome page and then you have to click on a "connect&quo...

Re: wireless internet connection problem

Will try to hard code an ip for the roku box. see if that helps I've never been able to do that in the one I have, which is an earlier HD. I did look at the Apple AirPort Express and they do show MAC filtering as an option. Maybe just filter out the MAC of the Roku on the AP furthest away, then it ...

Howzit all. I'm one of the team responsible for producing the Earth-Touch content and could really do with some help from you guys...Do you think it could be the Streaming settings used when compressing the H.264 files for the podcast. Our bitrate is high but not exceptionally so and should play fi...

Re: wireless internet connection problem

I am seeing similar wireless network issues on my brand new Roku Xd the roku box works fine one day. Then the next it seem to loose the wireless connection. Even when you go to network settings it shows my wireless network with full signal. I just turn the roku on today to check out the Channels. I...

Re: -New to the Roku Message Board-

I just "fired my cable company". I have enough to watch now with Netflix and what mediafly channel offers (for free). Add to this that I can listen to so much music (channels from around the world on TuneIn) that I don't have the tv on as much. I still get over the air tv with an antenna, ...

Re: connecting through my local network

Where I live we have a local wireless network. To connect to the internet through the network you have to click on a "connect to the internet" icon. The Roku can connect to the local network but since I can't click the "connect" icon it can't connect to the internet. Can I run m...

Re: Can't connect to local network ROKU XD

Is the router working for the computer? I'm assuming that you've confirmed the router is accessing the internet. I've got the same router and works like a charm. I'm not using MAC filtering, but WPA for a simple passphrase security. Confirm abck that your computer (I assume a PC) is able to get on t...

Do you mean for streaming music and/or video from computer to Roku? If so, do you have a router on your computer? Is it wireless?

Stop the streaming?

I've assumed this but wonder about it. If I (or someone else here who isn't used to the menu layout) leaves a channel without pausing it, does the streaming continue? Since the Roku never shuts off, just snoozes after periods of inactivity, if it thinks you're still watching something (or a radio ch...
