Re: TCL Roku TV wifi issues

Could you point out a better 55" tv for somewhere in the vicinity of $500-600? I am not questioning the validity of that claim, I just wasn't able to find anything myself that topped it at those prices. You can always get better, but better at comparable pricing is what matters. Thank you for ...

Re: TCL Roku TV wifi issues

Anyway, back on topic...how has luck been with the usb ethernet dongle from belkin? I might prefer to go that route even with my sets wifi working properly. Has anyone tried a usb hub to still retain a port while using the ethernet dongle? The Belkin usb to ethernet dongle works great for me on my ...

Re: New Vudu-Only Streaming Stick

I own hundreds of Bluray discs, I really would like to see this format at least see the same lifespan that DVD enjoyed. Until the infrastructure is in place to offer equal quality over the internet as well as bandwidth restrictions lifted for internet providers, it only seems practical to keep them ...

Re: TCL Roku TV wifi issues

My Walmart doesn't carry a single plasma set. No Pauls, Microcenter, or BuyDig within 100 miles. I do have a Best Buy and an HHGregg available. I do agree though, without dispute that a plasma set is bound to be superior, I just can't get one in my price range, at least in my area unless I drop down...

Re: TCL Roku TV wifi issues

Well, this is a discouraging development. Maybe I'll just be proactive and order the wired ethernet dongle.

Re: New Vudu-Only Streaming Stick

The box is indeed $24.96 in my local walmart. It was sitting on an end cap with the blurays. The terms and conditions seemed to indicate (IMO) that the $5 monthly credit would in fact expire each month, and I have personally had VUDU credits expire, especially promotional credits. I can verify that ...

Re: New Vudu-Only Streaming Stick

If Vudu’s streaming device is to have any appeal beyond to obviously Vudu customers it will have to open that device up to other services. It is the only way I see a device being able to compete in what is a competitive market. I strongly doubt that they're trying to compete. They're just making su...

Re: Roku TV Calibration?

Ok, so it seems like game mode disables most of those settings, not exactly what I'm hoping for, but it is something. Now, does anyone else use the television with an HDMI AVR? I only have one input to the television because of this, and while different sources require different setups, the televisi...

Re: Roku TV Calibration?

@TheEndless - I did indeed get it at the Walmart price. It wasn't even on the floor yet, but some nice sales guy was nice enough to bring it out and point out the similarities and bonuses compared with a different budget model I was looking at. Did this happen at Walmart? I bought 2 there, and it w...

Re: Roku TV Calibration?

If you want to calibrate your Roku TV go to the Youtube channel and search for AVS HD 709 and use these steps. 1: Go to the AVS 709 Brightness Calibration Video: Adjust your brightness to make bars 17-25 ONLY blink (MY SETTING IS 52) 2: Go to the AVS HD 709 Contrast Calibration Video: Turn Contrast...

Re: Roku TV Calibration?

Sigh, no it's not. It's a TCL television with Roku integrated. I'm not sure what you're getting at. Obviously it is a TCL television. It says so right on the box and the television itself, I'm not dense. Having used the television the experience is very much what I described. It doesn't just have a...

Re: Roku TV Calibration?

It seems likely, however, that Roku has a great deal to do with the firmware. It's an assumption, but based on the interface being nothing more than a Roku + some extras, I think it's a safe one. The tv is great by the way, for anyone on the fence it is a real joy to use. You wouldn't think the expe...
