M1000 in UK by Christmas?

As a happy owner of two Soundbridge's here in the US, I am very interested in purchasing an M1000 for my brother in the UK. However, the Roku UK site says that they are :due Dec 21st". That is cutting it very close (I assume this means due at Roku UK rather than actually delivered to the customer). ...

RokuMike, A bit confused. Does this mean I can use WinXP SP1 to play music files from my laptop thru soundbridge or not? Absolutely, the only limitation is that you can't use WMC as your server. iTunes, Twonkyvision and others work fine under SP1 (which I still use myself). Just out of curiosity, w...

Absolutely, although I would STRONGLY recommend moving to SP2.

If you're paused for over 90 seconds a re-fetch of the license will be required. That's because the music server will time out the connection if we don't fetch data for long enough. Thanks. Just to ask the obvious question (I'm sure you have thought this through but I am curious), isn't there any f...

Re: Buffering and fetching licenses

On a similar note, I have found that if I pause a DRM track for a long time (hours) the when I unpause it, it takes forever to re-aquire the license. It might be faster to just start the track over in that situation. Re-igniting this thread because I'm seeing a more annoying behavior. Specifically,...

Two Soundbridges, different results

Under what circumstances could the following occur: Two Soundbridges, a M2000 and a M500. Both have access to the same WMC machine (can browse, play non-protected content, etc). The M500 can play Napster-originated tracks just fine but the M2000 shows the little lock symbol next to such tracks and c...

Re: Buffering and fetching licenses

When letting the SoundBridge naturally advance from song to song, the next song is prebuffered when there is 20seconds to remaining in the currently-playing track. This prebuffering includes any license aquisition that is required. So, in short, your request is already fulfilled. Oh! Well, that's g...

Buffering and fetching licenses

I'm curious as to the potential for optimization for how licenses are aquired from music services (in my case Napster). My experience suggests that no attempt is made to retrieve the license for the next track until the previous track has finished playing. The net effect is a delay while the license...

Don't give these guys too hard a time - they are the most responsive company I have come accross in the technology space and I have worked with a fair few.

I'm not sure I was giving them a hard time. I was actually thanking them :-) The rest (about FW/FF) was just asking a question.

Patrick, A statement and a question... I really like this more "open" approach that, at the very least, I perceive in recent days about upcoming releases. You have relayed that - all being well - we should see an update in the next few weeks (late Nov/early Dec), that there's a good chance it will h...

Wow - such a quick reply you must be automated :-) Thanks! Well, this is weird. It is a problem with the remote. Here's the strange bit. If I fully seat the battery cover it won't work. If I pull down the little latch a FRACTION (probably less than one mm) then it works. I don't even need to have th...

Remote only works without battery cover

I just got my M500 today (small brother to an M2000). Thanks for the very quick delivery Roku!! (I ordered in Sunday night). Up and running in no time - all very nice. With one small but irritating thing... Th remote only works when I leave the battery cover off. No, I can't work out what this has t...

I guess the key issue for me isn't so much whether I'll be able to buy an M500 in the future (coincidentally, my $99 one just arrived today) but more whether future software updates will be supported. For example, as and when the real common / big requests (like fast forward, for example) are releas...

It looks like the M500 has been discontinued.

Where did you get this information? The product is still for sell on Ruko.com and I haven't read anything about its demise.
