cinnamonsigh, FWIW I agree with you (both about getting a Roku-branded Soundbridge and also about a M2000). FYI when I bought my M1001, it was the Roku-branded ones you could get in Australia (mine is definitely not a Pinnacle one and I bought it as I posted earlier from the Apple dealer in the Sydn...

I bought mine (M1001) a while ago from the "Next Byte" Apple shop (http://www.nextbyte.com.au) in the Sydney CBD. They didn't have it in stock - took a couple of days to arrive at the store for me - but it was definitely listed on their computer, etc. I don't know if I got a better or wors...

Shoutcast 192k stream for Radio Paradise no longer available

According to Bill Goldsmith (owner of Radio Paradise), as of a couple of days ago: "The availability of the free 192k MP3 stream has always been at the whim of Shoutcast. It was their decision - not ours - to drop it. BTW, they've been very, very good to us over the years, and I don't fault the...

Depends on what you consider "forcing"... What I was wondering is if iTunes users could choose to not upgrade and still have full use of the previous version... I bought a new 80Gb iPod a month or so ago, and it says it requires iTunes 7.0 or later (ie that it cannot be managed by iTunes ...

Just a point I thoughtI'd drop in here, the Linksys router firmware update which seems to have broken DHCP for Soundbridges also apparently broke it for Macintosh computers (in the same way, or at least in the same firmware revision). See http://forums.linksys.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=Wire...

Re: VisualMR V1.2.1 released

I just uploaded VisalMR V1.2.1. Seems like I did not update the link for the english PC version correctly - it still pointed to V1.2.0  Therefore you might have downloaded the old version (or it didn't work depending on when you tried). So you might want to check your version (using File/Abou...

What seems to have triggered it for me (and I think would give a 100% reproduceable scenario for you) is: * Restart Firefly (on my NSLU2). * Start VisualMR and connect to the Soundbridge. * Select the NSLU2 Firefly library - the first connection to this is always slow-ish (library has about 5500 tit...

With VisualMR 1.2 and the latest Soundbridge firmware (2.5B13 - just released), when I try to connect to my Firefly music library (latest Firefly nightly build running on a NSLU2), I get a failure popup in VisualMR saying "Unexpected Answer Received: 'ResourceAllocationError' (ServerDisconnect)...

I'm sure you'll get better replies, but as a quick starter the main benefit is that you don't need to have iTunes to be running in order to serve music to your Soundbridge. To elaborate in two different ways: * On a Windows PC or Macintosh, you don't need to have the iTunes application running. On t...

I am running both Twonky Media Server and Firefly on my NSLU2, serving the same music library to different clients - Twonky for my DLink DSM320 and Firefly for the Soundbridge. Firefly gives much faster response on the NSLU2 and also works fully with the Soundbridge searching/menu mechanism (whereas...

It's an application (ie stand-alone that you run from your desktop), rather than an applet that you run within a browser. All Java though, so should work on any platform with a functioning Java VM. I don't think the DAAPApplet within Firefly is going to make an official re-appearance before Firefly ...

I have exactly the same here (Windows PC, latest Sun Java VM, applet running within either Firefox or IE). Ron has removed/hidden the applet in the latest couple of nightly builds because it seems to not work - in the same way you have described here - for most people, himself included. I started a ...

About a month ago I bumped into a similar issue relating to misbehaviour of the Soundbridge after hitting pause. See http://www.rokulabs.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7600.

Sounds like the same issue as being described by GJH here?

It definitely seems a lot faster than the beta version. Two issues I found just now: 1. right-click, Get Track Details doesn't seem to work at all (Soundbridge is connected to a Firefly server - latest beta firmware and latest nightly build of Firefly running on an NSLU2). 2. I ran a shuffle-play of...

The other thing you can do - and what I am now doing with my Soundbridge M1001 - is buy a wireless bridge. I have a Linksys one (but I'm sure there are other brands that would work fine; DLink definitely has a similar device), and it gives me (1) 100% signal strength (vs the Soundbridge shown on the...
