Crash on full db scan with svn-1050

I installed the latest nightly build (svn-1050, Windows version) and it seems to have upgraded successfully and started ok. The admin web interface came up, etc. I stopped the service and deleted songs.db so it would rescan all the files (because of the WMA tag parsing enhancements listed in the rel...

Thanks for the response! I guess my question boils down to "what is the best way to use Firefly to serve (1) a Soundbridge and (2) a Mac running iTunes, where some of the files need to be transcoded (differently) for (1) vs (2)". If there was protocol-specific (or output-plugin-specific) t...

1) Is firefly/daap/rsp mutually exclusive with upnp? I run multiple media players off twonky and would like to continue to do so. Maybe I need to run twonky for upnp and firefly for roku? You can definitely run Twonky and Firefly together on the same server and serving the same library of songs. I ...

Firefly to an itunes player?

I apologise if this is an overly silly usage question... I am quite keen to buy a Mac Mini (Intel Core Duo one) to use with an LCD monitor in another part of the house, and ITunes would seem to be the music player of choice on that box. If I have my music library being served from its current (Windo...

Problem with pausing - maybe Firefly, maybe RSP on SB?

I stumbled on a problem which I haven't had a chance to reproduce yet, but which I think relates to either the Firefly server (I am running svn-1025 on Windows) or the RSP protocol handling in the Soundbridge, because I haven't had the problem when using UPNP (with either Twonkyvision or WMC). Anywa...

I don't think the "select() returned -1" error is fatal or directly related to the small number of files being found by Firefly. I get that message too on startup of Firefly and on my server it shows all my music files (5000 or so) to my Soundbridge. What format are most of your music file...

It seems to work very well indeed for a first release; I tried it with my Soundbridge M1001 for a while last night, running on a Windows PC and with the SoundBridge playing from a music library served by Firefly. It seems a bit sluggish at navigating the music library (eg drilling down from artist t...

If you've not done so already and have a Windows PC available, download Mp3tag from http://www.mp3tag.de/en/ and edit/save the tags on all the songs on that problematic album. Maybe select all of them, then change the album name to what it already is or something (ie so the tag collection is rewritt...

I don't know that it is a "firmware" issue with the Soundbridge. The common factor the two of you reporting the same intermittent connections issue (across a variety of widely-used server applications) is you are both running Suse Linux. The Soundbridge doesn't know what OS platform the mu...

Signal strength looks ok when close to unit -78Db (I think). Signal quality says 0 though ? Dont know if that is an issue ? I would think -78 was a bit on the low side, especially if that number is as good as you are getting (ie when you are in the same room as the access point). When you put the 2...

I am running the svn-1025 version of Firefly (from the "nightlies" website, rather than as renamed as Beta3 and available from Roku - so I hope it is identical and my advice to you here is correct) and it definitely supports WMA music. Maybe the installer doesn't include WMA as a supported...

I don't know much about Netgear routers, but I'll make a couple of guesses/comments (I have a M1001 which I use via wireless a couple of rooms away from my access point): * Can you see the Signal Strength and/or Quality for the Soundbridge on the access point and/or the Soundbridge (you might need t...

Re: "Album Artist" revisited

Okay, I've jiggered around the wma tags a bit. I've got a db schema like this: TPE1->artist TPE2->orchestra TCOM->composer For WMA, I'm doing this: artist -> artist wm/albumartist -> orchestra wm/composer -> composer If wm/albumartist is specified, but artist isn't, pad artist with orchestra if art...

Re: beta 2

What is the build number - or different features - relationship between that "Beta 2" build and the current "nightly" build of Firefly (which reports itself as "svn-1018" and available from http://nightlies.mt-daapd.org/) please? I believe Beta 2 is svn-1018. This is s...

I picked up the new-new nightly build from http://nightlies.mt-daapd.org/ (svn-1025) and I see "logging tuning on rsp reported by ted h." as an included change in this build, but I don't see any obvious output to the eventviewer log relating to the startup (or not) of the RSP plug-in. Wher...
