but I would rather downgrade to 6.0.5. than install Firefly I too was nervous about installing yet more software. However, fear is unfounded. FF is tiny, and is just a little server app. Think of it as just replacing the very small part of iTunes that is enabled when you check the "share my mu...

Some folks have said that just installing Firefly allowed them to keep iTunes 7 (I haven't tested this). 'tis true. All firefly does is take your iTunes music library and serve it to your network. It works with iTunes 7. All it does, in effect, is replace the bit of the software in iTunes that is e...

Powered speakers are obviously a good solution. I actually use a small microsystem radio/cd player and feed the SB to the aux-in. OK, I had the microsystem already, but you might find it is no more expensive and a bit more flexible than speakers only.

I think you will find untangling iTunes 7 back to 6 way harder than fixing some problem you have with FF. FF will serve what *you* have on your PC. If you have back-up/old/duplicate playlists FF will find them and these can cause probs. Mostly folk, myself included, seem to find FF is literally plug...

iTunes music sharing is turned on You don't need itunes sharing turned on if you are using firefly. If using itunes 7, then it will show in SB, but won''t connect to library. Are you sure it is the *firefly* server you are seeing in SB that won't connect. Try disabling sharing in iTunes and then tr...

I find the URLs in this post work. The radio2/4 ones seem to take a while to connect. My guess is they have to do a check/approval that your IP is in the UK before they start the stream

but I won't because the usability for playlist management between our ipods and the Roku's would no longer be there yes it would. Firefly serves iTunes playlists. No problem. It also serves iTunes radio stations. Firefly just replaces the bit of code that works when you check "Share my library...

Will Firefly sync with my iPod. Hrm, didn't think so. Can I build a playlist in one application had have it on my Roku's, my XBMC's and my iPod. Hrmm didn't think so. You can run itunes as normal. The overhead for running firefly as well appears miniscule. Firefly picks up any new playlists you cre...

roshon You can't easily go backwards and at the moment Roku doesn't work with iTunes 7. However, the Firefly server is excellent and does everything that iTunes server did. Follow the installation instructions and you should find everything works just fine. You will need the latest version of softwa...

and i have to input my WEP key This is related to your wireless connection and not to Firefly. I presume that you have to inputthe WEP key to play the internet radio presets which are directly from SB => router => internet. Try rebooting everything - PC, router and SB and see what happens. Firefly ...

Ron will probably weigh in with a better answer. The reason is prob that you are pointing Firefly at the place where you store the music, and not the place where iTunes keeps is playlist .xml files. Try pointing firefly at mymusic/itunes or wherever your itunes library files are as well as where you...
