playlists & sorting

*cough* Im posting this in here rather than in the firefly forums, since Im not sure wether its a SB issue or firefly thing. I noticed that playlists are sorted "by artist" automagically ? Who does the sorting ? firefly ? SB ? iTunes/DAAP ? I have lots of mixes which strictly rely on the s...

go ahead and download and install the firefly media server if your iTunes install still fails. http://www.rokulabs.com/firefly/ I dont know about the file. If you have tried a complete uninstall, check for some left-behind files and get rid of them manually. They could be in all sorts of dirs. You c...

erm, yes, but that would only apply when Im actually listening to an ogg file. I havent even seen (!) any ogg files in the library even with the iTunes client, that is ogg-capable, through DAAP on the slug. Anyway, I'll check my version of oggdec. edit: its the right one. -bash-2.05b# oggdec --versi...

Like posted in the firefly forums already, I currently do have this problem. As I run mt-daapd on a NSLU2 with limited horsepower though, I can clearly see that there is more to it. When my mt-daapd is in that state, its incredibly slow. This might not be noticed on a fully fledged PC though. On the...

I never really used iTunes, so I'd probably the resolution that has been discussed in some other thread here. like Album Artist search, that just includes Albums with one distinct artist. ;) I would hate having to go through all my music and set the iTunes compilation flag just for that.

I can see where you're going at.

But I presonally would really like schiers approach.

It would be actually easy, the result would just be a set of selects and queries, even interactively.

So by one query the search gets narrowed down, and further down.
Intriguing. :)

yeah, true.
I use a similiar approach on my personal DAP.

Im still not quite sure what kind of browsing/playlists/smart*/whaveter will best fit my needs. *shrugs*

Q: Is it possible to program a function "it configured AP off, try next known...." or so ???

I second that.
A list of APs with SSID/Keys with a predefined search order would be really appreciated!

Well, as a workaround you could create "smart" playlists for every year, or year range that you desire.

Tedious work, I know, but at least it gets the job done :)

well I have ~7K files on the NSLU2, which sports smiliar hardware to the Linkstation.

It takes ~10-15 seconds for a full list of all titles on the soundbridge, via wireless connection.

So its safe to assume its the Twonky ;)

edit:
Im running mt-daapd on RSP, aka firefly.

I have been meaning to upgrade from svn909 to svn1005 (now 1018) since I saw it there last week. One question though: Do I just install over the top, or do I need to uninstall 909 first? If so, how do I do that? just grab the package and ipkg install it. you might notice some deps that have changed...

The most "simple" solution for doing this that I can think of right now is this: 1. set up a shoutcast/icecast/$streaming_server_of_your_choice on your PC 2. add the straming server to the soundbridge's presets 3. profit! the delay will easily be 30-40 seconds, depending on buffering and b...
