The ROKU soundbridge is indeed an amazing gadget and I have always fun using it. I too think that ROKU does not spend any further development into it but why? Everybody I know is looking for an internet radio at the moment and the Soundbridge looks much better the nearly any other player. I do not k...

Were you able to decipher the pinout of the roku amp board? No, not yet. A friend of mine gave me a small 2 x 10W amp board that I have connected to 12V and to the internal speakers. I used a connector I inserted into the headphone jack and the sound is great. I think I will not connect to the inte...

Is somebody here who had a fault PSU in his R1000 and replaced it by a 12V PSU and now uses the 12V solution for a longer period of time? I want to know if it is really safe to use the diplay/streaming unit with the 12V. I read above that it should be powered up to 25V but there must be a reason ROK...

Aaron, can you please send me your e-mail adress as PM. I have opened the speakers, too and there is less glue on the PCBs. I will send you a photo of the PCB that you can see the numbers of all parts maybe a little bit better and you can upload into your Flickr album. One of my speakers digital amp...

Ah, once again it is down. Last weekend, this weekend, so many weekends RadioRoku is down.

Come on, ROKU. It can not be so difficult to implement a watchdog-protected server system.

Cheap way to refurbish a SB Radio

Hi guys, I have bought a pre-owned SB R1000 on ebay for a few bucks that did not work. I knew it was dead and yesterday it arrived. I want to bring it back to live for my party room (equipped with amp, speakers and CD-player).. Bad news: The pre-owner removed the PSU, the internal plastic plate that...

Technew, if my Soundbridge Radio PSU will die in that way that replacing the defective cap will not bring it back to life, I will replace the complete PSU by a 19V notebook PSU and add a 7809 for the 9.5V.

Maybe that is an option for you.

Aaron, thats exactly what it says. If the sound is OK using the headphone jack the player/streaming module is OK. The crackling is independant from using the internal or your external PSU, so I would say the PSU is OK, too. So in my view the crackling is definitely caused by one or more of the three...

Aaron, have you listened on the headphone jack? It would be interesting to know if the cracks also appear when using the headphone jack. Maybe the crackling is not caused by the amps but by the electronics of the streamer/player.

Aaaron, one I forgot:

I would temporarily replace the PSU with an external 12V PSU like some users here wrote to check definitely if the distorting cracks are caused by your R1000s PSU or not.

Aaron, thanks a lot for the nice pics. I have to repair a PSU, too and that will help a lot to reassemble the unit. Concerning your crackling noises: Do you still have these noises when using the headphone jack? So you can diagnose if the crackling comes from the players electronics or from the ampl...
