Re: Irrevocable Choices in Channel Properties?

I have a few channels that I changed the name after they were created (before they were submitted for publication).

the new name shows up in some places, but the old, original name still shows up in others. it can get kind of confusing.

Re: System sounds added to roAudioResource!

Been using them since I joined this little party in 2012. Way to hold out on us, man... ;) They were just added to the SDK docs on March 31st. I know, I got that happy feeling you get when you have an answer someone is looking for, then after I typed it, I saw it was you who asked, and I was like, ...

Re: new channel: Camera - for IP cameras

Interesting. You got me beat, then. Ya, so far as the individual jpeg images, I can get about 3-5 ffps on the jpegs on my local network, which isn't much below the mjpg stream in my browser from the same camera, and perfectly acceptable to me. Though I'm sure if you had a higher quality camera or vi...

Re: new channel: Camera - for IP cameras

Does it actually handle "MJPEG" or does it download "JPEGS" as fast as it can and then display them? (i.e. one request with a constant stream or one new request for each new frame of video) no mjpeg stream (thats not compatible with roku players), it supports the mjpeg cameras s...

Re: Multiple Button Presses

Based on recent experience, my view is "evolving" from "it's a remote limitation" (above) to what TheEndless said (below). simple proof in Brighscript for this. If you have a roku 3, throw together a channel that shows button press codes passed through the roUniversalControlEven...

Re: FCC Releases Net Neutrality Rules

personally, I like using my roku without paying my ISP extra for access to each of the channels, and without them blocking any channels that can't pay them off to allow their content through.

But that's just me.

Re: Versions

There really ought to be more options in the"requirement" web interface. It's not simply a matter of legacy vs. newer firmware. There are so many different hardware platforms with some significant differences as far as 2DAPI memory and other features (openGL) and things that are technical...

Re: Versions

You could build a version check into your channel -- if >5 then run the new version of the code, otherwise run the older codebase. Ya I've done this for few channels, seems to work ok. The biggest thing it doesn't do is allow smaller more compact versions for older hardware and bigger packages (lar...

Re: Input needed on DVR Service Options

Yes, I do want to use the Roku as the front end. I also want to schedule recordings through the Roku front end as well. By that I mean a Roku plugin that allows you to access your SimpleTV.....programming guide and set a recording. Do any of these solutions allow that? Yes, if you get a simple.tv, ...

Re: Input needed on DVR Service Options

you can record shows on your PC in windows media center, then play them back in plex and skip commercials. benefit: free (if you have plex) con: I'm not sure if you can schedule the recording on the roku, you may have to use your PC for the scheduling of the recordings. I've done this, it's pretty e...
