The answer appears to be "SBR doesn't support 802.11g".

The new router f/w allowed me to turn off G+, but to no effect. Almost as a throw-away I flipped the AP from 802.1g-only to 802.1b-only and... by the time I got to thebedroom it was all connected in!

Hmm. This model router won't let me select g-only. BTW< to be clear, there's NO security of any sort on the WiFi. No WEP, no WPA, no Mac-level filtering, etc... DHCP pool is big enough. ROuter defffo working - am talking through it to enter these posts - which are via my brand NEW .aptop that the ro...

WiFI not connecting - SbRadio.

I bought a s/h SB Radio. I powered it up - it logged in at once to my home router (Zyxel Prestige 661H) and played stations happily. I took it to another house, where I powered it up. It failed to find the original router, no surprise. It looked atound, found my router at THIS house (identical model...

Has it really been a year? Gawsh! Here's my update on Quiet Life with Firefly and SB. 1) On rebooting the Firefly server, the SB will claim it can't see any compatible servers. Go to teh Firefly server, open up the "Services" control, click on Firefly and select "restart". After ...

In an environment where Firefly is running in its proper configuration (with the RSP plugin in place), the SoundBridge should see both a DAAP server and an RSP server. For units that cannot do DAAP, they will happily use the RSP server instead. They should display the message you're seeing only if ...

Yes, Mr Rusty, it's a Pinnacle unit. So far as I can tell I've clobbered the "daap" bit of Firefly and left only the XML-RSP bit running. Or at least I think so. Anyone know if the Roku starts looking on port 9999? The Firefly service port*is* 9999 but I'm wondering if SB is seeing somethi...

Can you confirm - that when the SB sticks at "incompatible server(s) found", that - that means it has seen a big nasty incompatible server and now it won't do anything else until that goes away, even if a proper server is out there? or - that means the SB can *only* see the(se) incompatble...

I woudn't know how! Anyway, up until last night, it was all working, all I did was reboot the SB1001 and when it came back up, it was, as now, whinging about incompatibile servers. Which makes me wonder if it'se seeing something ELSE on that machine, but GOK what. I've loaded Sysinternals TCPView an...

OK, by process of elimination - literally unplugging devices from the network switch and rebooting the SB - I have narrowed down the machine which is showing up the "incompatible" server(s) that the SB is complaining about. It's the XP machine which is hosting the Firefly server. I've been...

Hah - found "Itunes Helper" still running on a couple of machines even though iTunes itself is not. Been around the entire network now making sure nothing is running iTunes Helper

and

no change. :-(

This is getting annoying.

I've tried running a network sniffer - but it's too old or just doesn't "sniff" ports it doesn't know about or something, coz it doesn't even find Firefly.

Is there no tool that can search for whatever the SB searches for and lists what it may be seeing?

I've now loaded the new 2.7 beta software. Makes no difference. I note that the Firefly web front end says Bonjour is "stopped". But I checked in the Services cpanel and it's definitly running. To be sure, I re-started it - which forced a re-start of Firefly too. And still the SB doesn't s...

OK, I've taken the time to reconfigure the firewall to allow the SB to see teh 'net, and I've upraded it to .174.

No improvement.

I'm going to try the beta version to see if that helps.

No, this is not a network connectivity issue.

The SB is connected to the WIRED network. It can see any and all internal machines. The only thing it can't do without a firewall reconfig is see the internet.

I can browse to teh SB's web GUI etc., quite happily.

Not quite. XP is running Firefly on one PC all the time. No problems there so far as I can see. The SB1001 whingues about Incompatible servers instead of listing the available servers. I *thought* this was down to the presense of the G4 on the network - (though iTunes is *not* running on it, and eve...
