Actually it's worse. Fed up waiting for an answer I trudged out to teh Mac and unplugged it. SB still says it's seeing "incompatible" servers. So I've been around every machine. All the s/w I tried when I was trying to set up teh SB in teh first place. I've uninstalled Windows Media Mangle...

SB fails to find Firefly - sulks

SB running 2.5.171 Firefly running on XP. Once paired up, they are fine. BUT I also have a G4 on the same network. If I boot the SB it sees the iTunes library on the G4, and tells me all about incompatible networks. But tehre appears to be no way for me to say "yes yes dear, just ignore the nas...

Supplemental - iTunes *was* still running on the Mac, I'd forgotten Mac's close-window button doesn't terminate the app. BUT I still wonder why the SB was busy whinging about seeing but not wishing to talk to iTunes when it should've been seeing and logging on to the Firefly server.

Soundbridge failes to find Firefly.

Since the earlier thread I've settled on Firefly so whilst other servers are still on the XP box, they're not running (services set to "disable" etc). Moreover, I don't run iTunes, so whilst I played with it on both XP and OSX, neither instance of iTunes is left running. Firefly *is* left ...

> vendor... warehouse... sell through Well as I bought this from a UK stockist, I suspect what actually happened is someone in the US with a fat load of hard-to-shift units unloaded them on some unsuspecting brit company. However, if the firmware isn't fixable, I may yet have to return the unit as n...

Aha I realised that, of course, the playlists made by MusicMatch all have the absolute path to the music files on teh NAS box which Firefly can't see. I edited one and replaced r: with e:\music and the result works perfectly! I also found the Firefly playlist create button on the Fireflu web fronten...

Mike, you're right, the box this SB came in says "Pinnacle" on it. But the instruction book IN that box is the same as the PDF on the Roku website and insists it shoudl work with iTunes. Perhaps you'll take this up with Pinnacle and perhaps you can bring it to the attention of UK stockist ...

Firefly doesn't have a tool for making playlists, so far as I can see.

Windows Media Connect doesn't correctly publish my music data on the network so it's utterly useless.

I have a pinnacle branded SB which, I'm informed, won't work with iTunes.

Playlists

M1001 won't play the playlist files created by Musicmatch - if using Musicmatch as the server it says "incompatible sound file" or some such. Firefly finds the playlist files and lists them but if I select one from the M1001, it says "0 items - press Exit to return". What should ...

Thanks for the feedback, TheEndless. Yes, the permission thing for Slim makes sense ONCE you remember that though your sat at the console logged in as Fred and have permission to install and run it, yet if it runs as a *service* it isn't logged in as Fred. I suspect the problem with the Firefly inst...

ahhh - when re-asserting "R:\" as the music source in Firefly config page, it gives me an error! It's not a very meaningful error, but it does at least suggest to me that ALL these half-complete server applications are having some basic objection to accessing the files on that store. On co...

Bonjour and Firefly installed. Firefly install routine has a bug - you can't change the Music Source properly. So I installed it pointing at "My Music" then once it was up and running I changed the Music Source directory to R:\ and told it to re-scan. It's doing that now. But after five mi...

Upgraded the M1001 to the latest firmware. - WMC - still says it's empty - SlimServer - still tries to update the firmware in the player - itunes - ah - here we have progress. Instead of utterly failing to even see the iTunes machiens (both a Mac and an XP machien "sharing" their iTunes) b...

M1001 - so far so bad

This software needs a LOT of work, frankly. OK, so far I've plugged the brand new M1001 in and it at *once* sees my MMJB server and can play albums. Great. But no playlist support. So far I've tried ALL the remaining suggested software except Firefly and NOTHING. - WMP10 and WMC - all works fine, bu...
