Re: Which models are actually new?

I currently have three 3s (one the second generation and the other two the first generation) and one 2.  I've been considering purchasing the new Ultra for our primary TV and rotating the rest among the remaining three TVs, "decommissioning" the 2.  We don't have a 4K TV, so the only reaso...

Mohu Airwave

If anyone here purchases a Mohu Airwave, I'd love to read your review.  I've been considering getting one for months, especially after Simple.TV died this summer.  I finally bought a refurbished first generation Tablo dual tuner DVR a couple of weeks back to get live TV via my Rokus, but would still...

Re: Feature Requests - Third Quarter 2017

I haven't posted on this quarterly thread in a long time, but the only one I used to ask for which I'd still like to see implemented is the user option to p asscode individual channels/settings/channel store.  And as my children get older, I have even less need for that feature. Rokus have advanced ...

Re: Congratulations Roku!

I bought my first Roku in early 2011.  The difference between then and now is astounding.  I used to post a lot on this forum, but, frankly, almost all the issues that used to lead to my posting have been resolved in one way or another and Roku has improved far beyond my wildest expectation.

Re: Turn off roku

Honestly, I don't understand why folks would want to turn off the Roku (unless it needs a reboot) as I don't believe it uses that much electricity when not streaming.  Why would you want to wait for it to boot up when you are ready to watch TV rather than just have it ready to go? Honestly, I'm curi...

Re: Spotify Roku Channel (playlists) Officially Dead

I've long been frustrated by Spotify's lack of support for its Roku channel.  I have no idea why this is the case and I wish that Roku and Spotify would work together to have a first-rate customer experience.  Both would benefit so it is in both companies' interest.  But there are likely reasons for...

Re: CinemaNow

I just found this out yesterday.  I have a few movies which I received for free from Target's old service that were migrated to CinemaNow and bought one or two movies through CinemaNow which were not available anywhere else.  So, apparently, unless those were part of the UltraVires environment, too ...

Re: Mohu Airwave

Any update on when this will launch?  I was relying on Simple.TV for streaming live TV, but it went the way of all flesh earlier this summer.  I was hoping to have an OTA streaming solution in place by the time college football started, which it now has.   I don't need a streaming DVR.  We are happy...

Re: Simple TV Signing Off

I'm not sure what I will do yet.  I don't stream OTA that much and I'm happy with my Channel Master DVR+ for recording, which I don't use that often.  I'll likely wait for reviews for Mohu's and Antenna Direct's competing OTA live streaming products and choose one of those.

Simple TV Signing Off

In what shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, Simple.TV sent an email today to its customers announcing that it was shutting down its service.  Here's the text of that email: On  August 5th , the Simple.TV service is shutting down. Unfortunately, we are unable to move the company forward or continue to...

Re: Roku Lifesaver

Depending on what you are paying for cable, you might save a little by ditching it and going with Sling TV, which you can use for ESPN and many of its sub channels.  I assume you are an ACC fan.  You'd have to check on it specifically.  Getting the SEC network costs me $5 more for the Sports Extra p...

Re: Splitters

My attic antenna is connected to a splitter, left by the previous owners' cable provider, which feed OTA to all my TVs, my Simple TV, and my Channel Master DVR+.

Re: Hulu Live TV- Guess What?

While I'm always happy to see new and better streaming services, there is no way I'll be subscribing to this. The reason why I'm happy to see it is that as more folks cut the cord, more content becomes available, including a lot of new free content. I mean legal content.  I pay for less streaming no...

Re: List of OTA Broadcast TV and streaming networks

I was going to refer you to the Wikipedia page, which the last post did. I check that out every few months to see what new OTA networks have been created. While not OTA, Ebru and BYU TV are two cable networks that have Roku streaming channels. I have both loaded on my Rokus. BizTV, AMGTV, and MiCasa...

Re: Need input on Roku and OTA DVR

According to Tablo's web site, it can be used without a subscription. It's stripped down functionality, but no more than my family watches or records OTA TV, the subscription is not worth the cost.
