Re: SDK Wiki Pages?

FYI the line to whack this dead horse extends around the block.
It's been obvious for years that there are no designers at Roku, but I see it's now a requirement for someone's niece/nephew the website vendors too.

Re: Can I add a channel to an account using API

It seems really unlikely, and might upset users. You could certainly email them a link to add it.

Re: Documentation Request For 1920x1080 roScreen

I just tried running a 1920x1080 roScreen on my old Roku 3 4200 with 9.1. It runs, but the location was off. The bottom of the roScreen ends about half way down the screen.

ETA runs as expected on my 4640.

Re: Ask channel users for ratings using Roku SDK or API

You would want to have a button that says "Rate this Channel!", then use ECP ( It's in the SDK docs ) to have the button link to your channel in the channel store, where the user can set the rating. I don't think there's any other way to access the ratings.

Re: Repeatable Roku CRASH - Delete channel while on screensaver

I bet you're right. I guess I'll just have to develop the habit of pressing something on the remote to exit any screensaver mode before deleting the channel. As an aside - I used to just upload the new version each time (to overwrite the existing version), but some time in the last year or two that...

Re: Repeatable Roku CRASH - Delete channel while on screensaver

I got the same result on a 4200. The channel is not a game but has an initial user screen.  I didn't get a message in VioletBug, but the tab went red so it crashed like yours, right away.
It did not happen when I let my in-channel 2D API screensaver kick in.

Re: FRUSTRATED: Roku developer mode went away on my Ultra

No, you're conflating the two possible issues. Being able to access that page means Roku has not blocked you and disabled the box from their end.
Developer mode is turned on in the box itself.  Sounds like a router issue.

Re: Approving the channel as public

I am almost bet too that those screencast.com links you put up are also spam meant to fit your agenda. You want people to go OMG an image hosting place that only charges $9.99/mo where do I sign up? the laff... I am bet your entire persona is just a charade. A huge fabrication. A lie meant to decei...

Re: FRUSTRATED: Roku developer mode went away on my Ultra

Roku will disable developer mode on a box that has something installed that it shouldn't.
If that's not your case, contact them and they'll straighten it out.

Re: Roku Game Development?

Also, the only real reason it could be good to specifically have a collection of people who do game development is game development tends to encounter specific challenges that most other types of development wouldn't.  I would be happy to participate in something like this if it got organized. But ...

Any reason why you wrote it entirely in BRS with no XML at all?

I do primarily animation and don't use the xml at all for Scenegraph. If you are dynamically changing things constantly, it makes more sense. The XML is fine for putting something on screen that never changes, like a logo.

Annoying.

Yes. And yes.

There's no such thing as "Roku 4 ultra".  What's the actual model number?

Actually, the 4640 is called Roku Ultra according to violetbug (got one). The only surprising thing is that there isn't a completely different box, that's also called Roku Ultra.
Agree about the HDCP issue.
