Re: Roku’s new soundbar and subwoofer

Well, supporting ARC is one thing your speakers don't.  I just priced soundbars a week ago for my daughter's TV, as they had a couple of speakers die and can't afford a complete 5.1 system at this time. I got them a pretty decent 2.1 soundbar for $150, and that included a sub. It doesn't suppo...

Re: Roku’s new soundbar and subwoofer

Interesting. I think it's a touch pricey both the soundbar and subwoofer together, but not extremely so. Would be even better if it offered HDMI inputs to allow other devices to be connected, and not depend on the TV sending the audio back. As some have found, not all TVs will output multi-channel a...

Re: Roku Stopped Working

When you first power up the Roku, do you get the dancing letters on the screen with the boot sound? If not, then it does sound like it's toast. If you do see the boot screen, then I'd next try it on a different TV, perhaps with a different HDMI cable. If it's non-functional on a 2nd TV, that pretty ...

Re: Roku 3 HDMI Versin

Can't say for certain, but I'd guess it's a flavor of HDMI 1.4. HDMI 1.4 was released on May 28, 2009, with 1.4a in 2010 and 1.4b in 2011. The Roku 3 was released in 2013. Highly unlikely they used that old of a version by then.

Re: Roku TV channels not playing

While I can't answer your question, the people that might be able to help will need to know which channels you are referring to. Naturally I expect they all require some sort of authentication, but the names of the specific channels could be important.  . Now, could a removal and reinstall fix it? C...

Re: Roku Express | Easy High Definition (HD) Streaming Media Player

Exactly how has the Roku "ruined" the TV? It's just an HDMI connected video player. It isn't capable of doing something to the TV.

Hard to say. I can connect to my Xr hotspot without a problem. But others say they can't. I just got my Xr about a month ago, so perhaps Apple has updated something.

Re: Synch Question

Well, I am assuming they are not streaming from an Internet source, but a local file either on a USB drive or from a networked server. I would say the odds of an absolute perfect sync are pretty low, mostly because you'd have to enable the playback simultaneously for both players. Unless they are bo...

Re: Roku App won't connect on "public" wireless network

My private network uses 192.168.5.x, and I am getting the "IP address not supported" message. I think maybe the app is checking for 192.168.0.x instead of 192.168.x.x. I wish there was a workaround for this. That is still considered a private IP address (as is any 192.168.x.x address). Bu...

With the holiday it will likely be Tuesday before one of the Roku forum admins are available to assist you. It does sound possible your account was compromised in some fashion. Perhaps just lost in a database failure of some type, or of course someone else may have gotten access and changed settings...

Re: Video Playlists

I believe Roku Media Player supports M3U playlists. But they have to be correctly constructed. The file path needs to be relative, as there's no drive letter assigned to the USB drive when connected to the Roku. So base every file location on the root of the USB drive, i.e. "\folder_name\subfol...

Re: Matroska files do not play sound

If it's truly Dolby Digital/AC3 audio, it should be working. But if it's DD+, DTS, or any of the lossless codecs, few if any TVs support those audio codecs. And as mentioned, external sources (such as a Roku) are completely dependent on the TV being able to process the audio. Setting the audio to PC...

Re: Turn off Wifi-direct in Streaming Stick Plus

Thanks. Since I have multiple roku units around the house I could move around, what 4k capable  Roku models do have the ability to turn it off?  Other than the ultra, I can't fit that one.. Thanks, BJB The Premiere (3920) is 4K capable, and comes with an IR remote. According to the Wiki info, it is...

Re: Roku Ultra mounted behind TV

I have my Ultra mounted within a cabinet that also contains my AVR. It has a WiFi access point within inches of it (although I have the Ultra wired) and I have no issues using the remote. Unless your TV itself emits a lot of heat, I wouldn't think the Ultra would have a problem. As long as it's not ...

Re: Turning off display on a Roku TV

Some TVs will allow turning the screen off while continuing to play the audio. You're not actually turning the TV off, just blanking the screen, so it's not like it saves much power. I'm fairly sure that no Roku TV has such a function, however. I know my Samsung does, but that's the only one I know ...
