Re: Poll: For Roku 2 XS users running new firmware 7.2

As the same problems exist across multiple apps, it seems pretty likely that the problem lies with the new Roku OS 7.2, so I've submitted a support ticket.

Re: Poll: For Roku 2 XS users running new firmware 7.2

Getting multiple spontaneous reboots on multiple channels, including Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, YouTube, History, PBS, et al. Pompey, are you seeing apps that spontaneously quit back to the Roku home screen, or only spontaneous system reboots?  I am getting both, and on multiple channels, so I ...

Re: Do Roku and app devs get automatic crash reports?

Thanks 23rdDjin, that first link is for the "report a problem" link, right?  Hadn't seen that one before; kinda hard to tell how serious it is, since it doesn't ask for any technical details or email contact, or whether it's targeted at just web-browser-based streaming or also includes set...

Re: Do Roku and app devs get automatic crash reports?

Well, Roku customer support wasn't able to provide support contact for the PBS app.  Here's the response that I got back: Thank you for contacting Roku Customer Support. We understand that you have issue with the PBS channel. We are really sorry for the inconvenience that is caused to you. We are re...

Re: Do Roku and app devs get automatic crash reports?

Thanks renojim.  I've tried previously to figure out how to contact the developers of the PBS app (which is just filthy with defects ) and struck out.  Do you know if Roku, at least, gets automated crash reports? Which would allow them to identify systematic flaws in the Roku OS, and would allow the...

Do Roku and app devs get automatic crash reports?

I've recently (past month) started to get spontaneous restarts from some, but not all, of the apps that my family has been regularly using (PBS and NBC Sports are having restarts; PBS Kids, Netflix, and Amazon are not).  I have no way to tell if this is due to the 7.2 update or to the new versions o...

Re: Feature Requests - Third Quarter 2016

Honestly, I don't need new features on my Roku. I'd prefer that Roku invest more time in helping app developers to write better apps .... more stability, greater consistency across apps, more intuitive design. Okay, actually I do have a feature request for Roku.  Create a Favorite Shows screen and l...

Re: PBS Channel update - exiting issue

I've got an "exiting issue" too, but it's different and, I think, more problematic. Often when I finish watching a video in the PBS app, it automagically exits the app all by itself and goes back to the Roku home screen. On other occasions, it just halts in the middle of a video and the wh...

With 7.2 I am getting all sorts of system crash/restarts. Never got them before, even on the very troubled 7.0

Re: 2016 Olympics on Roku in USA?

My god this NBC Olympics app is the slowest molasses moving app in all of Roku history. Yeah, it's pretty slow ... and unstable, too!  On startup, I get about two minutes of "retrieving," then when browsing through the streams/clips I frequently get a 30 second "updating content"...

Re: 2016 Olympics on Roku in USA?

Is there going to be any way to watch the 2016 Olympics on Roku in the US for those of us without a cable or satellite subscription?   NBC will broadcast it, so you can watch Rio Olympics 2016 on NBC Sports Live. But don't you need a cable or satellite subscription in order to activate (most? all?)...

2016 Olympics on Roku in USA?

Is there going to be any way to watch the 2016 Olympics on Roku in the US for those of us without a cable or satellite subscription? Either a reliable free way, or a paid app? It looks like NBC's regular and sports apps both require a cable or satellite subscription to access live content.

Re: Roku Ethernet Problem

Are you sure that you've got a decent wifi signal where your Roku is? Try fiddling with the wireless security settings on your router ... if your router is set to allow multiple security settings (like allowing WPA1/WPA2, TKIP/AES) try picking just one, and try changing it around ... do WPA2, WPA1, ...

It's a TP-link WR842NDv2. Fairly old model. I hope that the current models have better firmware!

Re: DLNA problems

Okay, just checking back in to say that I put OpenWRT on my router, with minidlna, and it's now working fine with the same MP4 files. So, no problems with the DLNA client on the Roku; the whole problem was the wonky DLNA server in the default TPlink firmware.
