now it has started to reboot at random - is there an instability issue with 2.5.174?

Wrt wigging - this only started to happen after I moved the wifi base station to a different position which put the light in between the wap and the Roku. But there were various other mains wiring changes which could be relevant. It is only when the light is starting up, and not every time. Might ha...

Correction: new starter and new tube - M50 still reboots when light switched on.

Is there an earlier version of firmware which is more stable and less inclined to reboot if it gets unexpected wifi events?

No, it's wireless (hence the signal strength!) and the 2 devices are on different circuits. But the light is in the direct path from base station to SB, which probably doesn't help. I have changed the tube, which was a bit old anyway, and so far so good. The kitchen is a lot brighter too. I just tho...

Fluorescent tube reboots Roku

Anybody got any ideas with this one... I have been using my SB500 (2.5.174) for over a year - very satisfied. iTunes or Twonky servers, Belkin pre-N MIMO F5D8230-4 wifi (with firmware to make it behave like a Linksys WRT54GX). Since I moved the location of the wlan base station to a different part o...

I read in another post that the M1001 has a different wifi card and a different scale of "quality" than the M500. I think maybe up to 100?

It looks to me like the signal quality is the same as s/n, since it seems to be signal strength-noise level. I saw a post that said somebody had quality of 40 something, which was deemed to be ok. Mine is only 25-30 and I do lose the M500 when one particular fluorescent light is switched on! The Rok...

tc - I have been looking for an answer to this one for some time. Basically, the answer is no. If you use a different server, maybe. I use Twonkyvision v3.1, which supports a "now_playing" function, where you can pick up a stream with Winamp. I believe Slimserver supports multiple clients ...

This is brilliant! Now I can find who was playing on a track I like without going and digging around for the CD! (Its in my comments)

Sounds good. How is a PC going to play the stream? Is there some kind of Soundbridge emulator, or are we talking about a stream picked up somehow by Winamp or similar? Or are we talking about loading the file path and name into Winamp, in which case how would it get updated about a new track/album? ...

Hi, I am following this with interest...I use Twonkyvision for a server which used to have a "now_playing" playlist which allowed other client devices (incl. Winamp) to play the queue which I selected on my Roku M500. BUT Twonky have just released v4.0 with this feature removed! Any way to...

The ability to choose what is displayed from the track tags.. Including Comments (where I keep the musicians names) and Composer (where I keep the composer). I guess if there are too many fields selected, you might need a way of specifying how to display - scrolling, alternating, some lines scrolli...

This sounds interesting - like shoutcast, but based on what is currently being streamed by windows media connect? Twonky Media Server has a "now playing" function which is similar, but isn't supported and, to be honest, doesn't work that well. Like Twonky generally, at the moment... Is it ...

Actually, if heldo had his/her pc in a separate room from the soundbridge and wanted to hear the same music in the pc room as whatever is playing in the soundbridge room, there would be a good reason to look for pc control as well as pc media streaming while the soundbridge is playing. I would like ...

I think this app is very useful (qv) but I would really like to also stream the media file to the PC and play the same music via a media player on the PC (at roughly the same time). Cidero/Intel seems like a sledgehammer to crack a nut and I can't get it to work anyway. Anybody got ideas how else to...
