ScreenShades now available on all Roku Players

FYI, my ScreenShades screensaver for Roku2 is now available on the original series of Roku players thanks to the new 3.0 Roku firmware update. Screenshades was the first independently developed application to make heavy use of the new 2D graphics features on the Roku 2. ScreenShades is a moving digi...

Re: How to add a Play All button?

There are really a lot of reasons why this might happen. Is it always the same video that freezes? What if you pick the second vid as your first vid, does it play? In your video player module, interrupt program execution and print out the contents of the data you are sending for the first video, the...

Re: Will a live feed go to sleep on its own?

Will work, but won't it stop the video stream for those who are watching TV normally after 4 hours? Or can the code be modified to place a message that "In 10 minutes the screen will automatically close to conserve bandwidth". Please, Press OK to Continue" If no response it will clos...

Re: Can Roku do this?

It isn't really clear from what you posted exactly what you are trying to accomplish. Do you want a Roku screen that updates every few minutes? Do you want an image that updates every few minutes? As you probably know, a Roku can't really display a web (html) page. Instead, the Roku can take XML dat...

Try holding the reset button for 60 seconds or longer, to fully reset the device.

as far as icons go, this might be the problem: SDPosterUrl:"file://pkg:/images/CraigVenter-2008.jpg" HDPosterUrl:"file://pkg:/images/CraigVenter-2008.jpg" that should be: SDPosterURL:"pkg:/images/CraigVenter-2008.jpg" HDPosterUrl:"pkg:/images/CraigVenter-2008.jpg&q...

Re: Will a live feed go to sleep on its own?

you could put a timer in your video module to exit the video player after a certain amount of time has passed, up to you. for example: timer=createobject("rotimespan") while true if timer.totalseconds() > 14400 then return -1 'exit video after four hours of play msg = wait(100, video.GetMe...

Re: Beginning Development

Since both roScreen and roImageCanvas are relatively free form - you will have to generate the focus effect yourself - for example, you could draw a box around the item you want to represent as "selected". If you want your screen to behave like a standard roku component, then read up on an...

Re: Slideshow implementation example

For a custom look, you would probably want to use the roImageCanvas component. Take a look in the Component Reference for some examples. Post any further questions back here and someone will try to help you.

Re: Change Button Icon and Rating Colors (Image Inside)

hi,

many of these properties can be controlled with the roAppmanager component. i cant say for sure if one can directly control the button color or the rating color independent of the text color without doing some tests, but ill investigate and post back here later.

Re: Beginning Development

I'm looking into creating a Roku channel, and have a few questions I hope someone can answer. Roku documentation mentions things called components, however these components appear to be more like templates. In other words, I just supply the appropriate data and call the appropriate methods/function...

Re: issues with wowza on 2.9, Roku2.

Ok. So if it get this right from reading the various threads:

2.9 can't handle absolute urls,

4.x can only handle full absolute with the http://

so the server needs to output the full path to each stream segment in the .m3u8

?

issues with wowza on 2.9, Roku2.

Hi, I'm testing out a new wowza service from Bitgravity. I've been testing with my 3.0 boxes for the most part and everything looked good, then just switched over to my 2.9 boxes. The 2.9 is throwing a 404 error when it hits the m3u8 file: "Unknown event: 11 msg: HTTP status 404 data: 0 indx: 0...

Re: HLS Troubleshooting

In a Multi-bitrate scenario, does setting the stream bitrate to a fixed number to speed up buffering prevent the roku from adjusting if the bandwidth changes, or does continue to auto adjust?
