Re: trying to print a simple array value (string), not worki

Related question, say I have a string "map" and I want to convert to variable map, is there a way to do this?

Basically I want the opposite of ToStr(), I want to "unstring" a string!

Re: trying to print a simple array value (string), not worki

Ah, that helps, I understand it better now.

So without the quotes, even something like HELLO is just a variable that hasn't been assigned a value, and only "HELLO" is a string right off the bat. Thanks to you both :)

trying to print a simple array value (string), not working

I tried: print stri(testArray[0]) ' error, Type Mismatch myString = testArray[0] print stri(myString) ' error, Type Mismatch I als...

Re: SDK Docs: links to fix, missing/broken/etc

Fixed:
On docs page:
http://sdkdocs.roku.com/display/sdkdoc/roFont
In the example
h = font.GetOneLineHeight(text)

crashes brightscript with error "Member function not found in BrightScript Component or interface"
correct code is:
h = font.GetOneLineHeight()

Re: Help with drawText

I found another text wrapping function in this thread: http://forums.roku.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=64824 but maybe the one you wrote, happymeal, works better? I've written my own textfield object which breaks texts across multi-lines. Rendering runs smoothly even drawing multiple lines of text t...

Re: Word wrapped DrawText

I could really use this ability, but I'm not quite sure how to use the functions. I know the basic idea of calling a function, passing parameters, but could you (or someone) show a full example code of these word wrapping functions in use?

Re: roTextScreen for firmware 4.3 or newer - should I use th

Thanks for the responses. Glad to know roTextScreen works on older units (mostly). I still may indeed use roImageCanvas and roScreen for more control, I was just hoping to get away with maybe using roTextScreen since it's already set up quite a bit the way I would like. We'll see.

roTextScreen for firmware 4.3 or newer - should I use this?

(first post!) I'm working on a simple RPG that will have a lot of text from time to time, and while I haven't yet tested different methods, I found roTextScreen which sounds promising: "...displaying large amounts of scrollable text..." My concern is that since this only works on firmware ...
