Screen blanks out periodically

I was watching seasons one and two of Doc Martin, and every now and then, the video and sound would go out for a second or two, and the TV displayed "no signal". I also saw now and then where the screen got briefly brighter - it took me a while to realize that this wasn't something the sho...

Do you expect me to wok?

No, Mr. Bond! I expect you to fry!

Yep, you'd be getting complaints from people who didn't understand that they would need internet to use it, who expected to be able to use dial-up, or who were angry that a router wasn't included.

Re: Would You Pay For Hulu?

If broadcast can make a living by selling advertising, why can't Hulu figure it out?

Video.PBS.org

Adding this would be a huge win for the Roku, it would open up a pretty large library of content for the Roku. Nova, Nature, etc.

Re: Would You Pay For Hulu?

I would never pay $450 a month for a cell phone; I don't even pay a tenth of that. I use a prepaid cell phone, it lets me keep in touch when I'm out of the house or away from my desk. But in any case, the cell phone companies had to create the infrastructure themselves. Companies like Hulu do not. T...

Re: Would You Pay For Hulu?

Maybe $40 per year. I don't think that Hulu is worth as much as Netflix is. And if I was only paying for the ability to use it with a set top box, not worth so much. I could get an old PC and hook it up to the TV for less. Now, if Hulu wants to increase their offerings, perhaps. I watched 30 Rock Se...

Re: How to suggest new channels

I would love to see video.pbs.org added. Much of what I watch is PBS programming, and if this was available from the Roku, it would save me the bother of recording it to the DVR of my PC.

Re: USB Support...Ever?

The "U" in USB does stand for "universal", but that doesn't mean that any device will support any and all USB devices plugged into it. Universal just refers to the connector, not to the devices themselves.

Re: New Netflix

At least Apple cared enough to protect you from using Flash on the iPad. If they weren't so thoughtful, people would go about using computers they felt like. Instead, people can rest comfortablly in the assurance that Apple knows best.

Re: Roku upgrades Netflix app to let users browse through TV

Looks like a good upgrade, I won't have to keep so many titles in my queue if I can search on the box. Right now, I have around 250 titles that I might play one of these days, I can delete them if I don't have to go over to the computer.

Re: Cutting the Cord

Things are changing. Right now, I pay $24 per month for 6 mbps. Slower than I would get with cable modem, but I still get 4 dots most of the time. More and more cities are adding municipal wi-fi networks, and when there is competition, the cable internet providers have less leverage. I remember a qu...

Re: another nail in the Flash coffin......

I agree, Flash will be here for a while, at least until there is something to fully replace it. It's one reason I wouldn't consider an iPad. I don't need my hand held, if I want to use a Flash website, that's my business, not Apple's.

A proposal: Roku U

Many colleges offer live and archived audio and video of sports events. Typically, the video is for the "minor" sports. Usually there is a monthly membership fee for this service. Roku should work with colleges to create a standard format that would work with the Roku DVP. This would benef...
