Andrew, I know zilch about writing Roku apps but would suggest you write your post in the Cascade forum, as that is where most posts related to creating apps for the PB go. It's pretty rare that a post actually pops up in that forum and when it does the "devs" of the Roku world are usually pretty qu...

For video, doesn't the XBox360 only support WMV? The thing I love about the Roku is the MPEG2 support. I love capturing video with my Hauppage PVR-250 card and playing back on my TV immediately without having to stream or transcode.

Am I missing something (speaking non-HD)?

My only real gripe with Roku is with the disappearance of RokuDon. My assumption is that RokuAnthony put the kabosh on his posting, especially after the "best flower media player on the planet comment". How RokuDon could go from a couple of months of extremely active forum posting (including meeting...

Note that both of those programs have been essentially outlawed by Macrovision and their authors threatened with lawsuits if they did not cease and desist in the development and distrubution of the program. I believe Macrovision even took control of the DVD Decryptor web site and is able to collect ...

DRM is really out of control. Once HD-DVD and Blu-Ray are mainstream, the MPAA finally gets it's broadcast flag and the RIAA has every music device manufactured tightly controlled under DRM our only hope will be brilliant coders who will be termed hackers and under threat of lawsuits. DVD Decryptor ...

Hey Barry, thanks for the reply. I have actually never used an ArtPack so I'll have to look into that. Here's a quick run down of how the Roku currently operates and how I think it should operate when dealing with photos. Current: - From Roku UI, navigate to share that contains photos. - Select the ...

One note on the ventilation thing. My Roku has been crammed in my media cabinet for about 15 months now and it has less than a millimeter of space on top of it. It also sits on top of two other units and the doors to my cabinet are usually closed. However, I do have about 8 inches on each side of th...

Sorry I can't help more...

I assume you are taking the CF card with the upgrade file on it back out of the Roku unit upon rebooting correct? Otherwise you're re-upgrading the OS everytime you reboot.

If so, does it not boot even with no cards in the slot?

RokuDave just posted in the Beta forum yesterday that he would like people to submit problem video files because they are going to be spending the next few weeks working on fixes. There is no reason to believe this is an abondoned product at this point. Out of inventory is weird though but who knows...

I believe fellow Roku user Barry Gordon has been hot on the case to find an alternative power supply. I think he actually found one but was then told by the supplier they were currently not available. You might search the threads with his name in it to read his findings. It was in one of the "my HD ...

Strange guys. I've played tons of music and have used MPlay almost every night since the beta came out and everything has worked great. I have even rebooted my PC and unplugged my router and yet the Roku has kept it's IP and continued to function (once the PC and router came back online). I'm only u...

Hey crappyguy, what are those pictures all about in the link in your sig? At first I thought they were from your house until I saw the studio shots... I've always been an M&K fan and hope to get a full THX cert. surround system in the next couple of months.

I upgraded tonight and all went fine. First time I have upgraded since 2.0.15. My wife was ready to strangle me because she was at her wits end with the Roku losing it's IP address after the PC was rebooted (for various reasons here and there). Hopefully the network updates made in these latest rele...
