Yet another check in with Roku to see if they are ever going to respond to this thread with an actual answer. Sadly this event has kinda soured me with roku. I mean the product works fine and all, but the fact that this happened, knowing it was going to happen and still 5 months later nothing has be...

You need a router to connect up multiple devices to your modem. It has nothing to do with wireless. You have the option of getting a wireless router but those also have wired ports on them to. if your trying to plug in directly to your modem, try powering off your modem for 30 seconds and let the ro...

Re: NBC Boss says we should watch TV on our TV

I think we can definitely say that Hulu won't be showing up on Roku....Not unless it shows as subscription. Probably not. :( Or the Roku folks can explain to NBC why a commercial watched over the internet is the same as a commercial watched over cable Everybody seems to be talking about the ad reve...

Yeah but if you buy the Roku box for some future Hulu firmware, you're going to be very frustrated. I'd like Hulu, but I bought this thing for Netflix. Certainly the release of a SDK would speed things along. But who knows when that will be released? Probably about the same time that we get 1080i s...

Forgive if this was answered before... 1. If Netflix were to suddenly have 1080i streams, would the Roku box on the current firmware send 1080i over HDMI? 2. If Netflix continues only sending 720p streams, is the Roku box hardware capable of converting it to 1080i, with or without a firmware change...

To get optimum speed (and its really not needed), you simply buy a wireless N bridge then plug the roku box wired into it and then all your streaming will be over wireless N. I actually have all my devices in my living room (that have ethernet support) plugged into my wireless bridge and stream to m...

Also, try setting your RTS down to below 1024. I had the same problem with it hogging all the bandwidth and I changed my RTS down to 512 on the router and that fixed everything. Just something to try.

They are trying to prevent long load times and rebuffers, so they error on the side of caution. Frankly, if it took 15 minutes to buffer 1-2 minutes of video, you were having a problem. It just might be that during that time the problem cleared up and never had to rebuffer.

LOL, have you seen the 1080i thread? I think I am on roku's most wanted list. Not to mention many roku users who think our problem as trivial and that we should just shut up about it. I understand what your saying, and its not really seen as an annoyance. The reason you see people jump into a thread...

Not bad. I agree with a large portion of it. There are tools around to help but they are usually not very user friendly and are not easy to find. So a good set of tools to use for such problems would be great to have for the not so technically savvy folks. I think the only thing I probably disagree ...

Re: calm yourselves.

For the 3rd time- 720p IS HD. Look at Walmart.. Look at Best Buy.. Look at Circuit City.. 720P TV's are HDTV's. They broadcast HD signals, and most HD channels have a 720P maximum output as well- NOT 1080i or 1080p. So stop bitching at Roku for "only" sticking for 720P right now- for a $1...

As with what Teddman said, let me also add that your PC has a hard drive in it and it allows for better buffering. If you stop the movie and just sit there, it will eventually buffer the entire movie to your hard drive. The roku box only has 64 meg of ram (I believe that is the number) for buffering...

I also would love to have 1080 support added to the mix....Not real sure why it was left out to begin with :? Presumably because all the people happily using the 720p output would have been pissed if they had to wait for 1080. Which I feel they wouldn't have to of waited if Roku had started out wit...
