Re: I need help setting up my Roku VAST Ad framework

The Ads.xml file posted is not well-formed XML... it has mismatched and unclosed tags, for example.

You will likely get better results using an actual VAST server or using VAST-compliant code to generate test data.

Re: I need help setting up my Roku VAST Ad framework

I have replaced, the bad url, but I am still getting: Type Mismatch. (runtime error &h18) in pkg:/source/appVideoScreen.brs(62) 062: if curPos > nextPod.renderTime and not nextPod.viewed I have always tried to use if curPos > Int(nextPod.renderTime) and if curPos > nextPod.renderTime.toint() st...

Re: Casting Larger Numbers to String

Changing stri(int, 10) to output unsigned decimal representation seems like great opportunity for that! (a) it will bring the behavior for radix=10 in line with all other radixes, right now it's the "odd man out" (due to an extra "if"?). (b) it will answer the complaints (i seem...

Re: Casting Larger Numbers to String

PS. This is weird: BrightScript Debugger> i = 2^31: ? stri(i, 9), stri(i, 10), stri(i, 11) 5478773672 -2147483648 a02220282 Assuming you are commenting on the negative value: The BrightScript integer type logically represents a signed 32-bit integer. For bases other than 10, however, the number is ...

Re: Casting Larger Numbers to String

If you are targeting current firmware versions (i.e. 6.2), you can use StrI(n, 16) to format the integer key as a hex string. Just an academic detail, but that would give a "more efficient" lookup key representation than the legacy StrI signed/padded decimal formatting. http://sdkdocs.roku...

Re: SSDP Discovery Not Working

Have you tried sending the M-SEARCH query from your laptop, so you're sure that Wireshark will show the UDP traffic between the laptop and the player? And are the laptop and player on the same subnet? Or are you doing something fancier with multicast routing. By the way, I'm fairly sure it doesn't m...

Thanks for the feedback. Bug reports are always appreciated. :) The roAppManager documentation has been updated to list "SpringboardDirectorText" as the key for overriding the "director" label on roSpringboardScreen, as opposed to the obsolete/non-functional key "Springboard...

Re: Roku TV ECP commands & power state

... What I'm looking for is a way to stop the TV from going into deep sleep mode where the WiFi gets turned off 12 minutes or so after the TV gets powered off. I'd be more than happy for this not to be the default behavior, but it would be great if there could be another option in that menu "k...

You might try the Setting options under System / Power / Auto power off and disable it (turn off the checkboxes).

Maybe you have a remote that's starting to have issues? Maybe try with the mobile phone app? (I've never tried that for entering dev mode, does it even work?)

You need to use a physical remote.

That's true, I never expected calling GetBitmap() multiple times would cause a crash. May be this should be added to the documentation. Especially since it causes Roku to restart.

Re: Working ECP input example?

The documentation is indeed cryptic. You need to create an roInput object, call SetMessagePort on it, and look for events of type "roInputEvent". http://sdkdocs.roku.com/display/sdkdoc/External+Control+Guide#ExternalControlGuide-30ExternalControlProtocolServices The external control server...

ifMessageDialog.UpdateText() might do what you're looking for, but the documented behavior is a bit contradictory.

Yes. The documentation has been adjusted to remove the incorrect statement about multiple calls to UpdateText adding multiple lines.
