The workaround is to enter the URL of the desired radio station (http://xxxxx.mp3) in the "presets" page of your Soundbridge local web server.
1/ To access the Soundbridge web page, you need to get the local IP address of your Soundbridge (through your router or with the soundbridge remote through "Configuration" --> "Wi-Fi status" then scroll to the end to get the IP address (mine is 192.168.0.79))
2/ On your Internet Browser then go to http://192.168.0.79 (for instance)
3/ and then go to Presets.
4/ select URL in the drop down menu of one of your presets (for convenience use one between A1 through A6)
5/ enter the URL of your station. If you don't know the URL of your favorite radio station, you'll have to google a little. Be sure it is the one used for streaming which ends with .mp3
6/ enter the Name for your preset
7/ press the "Update Presets" Bottom
and then it should work by pressing on the Soundbridge remote the number of the Ax preset you've selected in step 4/ (ie. press 2 if you entered the URL in A2)

Hope this helps...

Thank-You -- Excellent help!

The challenge is to find the correct URL to put into the presets.  If they are MP3's they often do not show this.  For instance one I found inside a m3u file was:

http://streaming.radionomy.com/4u-80s?l ... %3bq%3d0.6

This was more guesswork than following a logical plan.  Is there a better way to locate the URL's?

Search the Radio you want on www.vtuner.com -> right click on Play-button -> save the file -> open the file with a texteditor -> copy the streamlink you want -> paste the streamlink in the preset of your soundbridge webinterface -> scroll to the end of the page and click save...

Please delete this:

?lang=en-US%2cen%3bq%3d0.9%2cnb%3bq%3d0.8%2cfr%3bq%3d0.7%2ces%3bq%3d0.6

and save the streamlink in a preset :-)!

Good to see I'm not the only one in this pickle. I feel like my dog just died! I've been rocking the Roku for over 10 years!!

At least some of my distress is relieved knowing I can still stream the presets. I'd like to hope it's just a matter of Roku rebooting their server.

I have the original Soundbridge Radio I was going to dig out of storage to test although I suspect the same result.

Sad day...

Thank you - this works, for instance the address found using that method and wordpad for smoothjazz.com is  http://sj256.hnux.com/

Put that address in the A1 url preset box, and it works!

Hopefully roku will put things back the way they were  :)

I've now got 12 presets up and working.  That's a feature i never used previously.
Thanks again for all of the help here.

I have the URLs in the Presets, but it still searches and will not play. What am I doing wrong?

Oh well, time to move on for this online streaming user.

Loved how I could just search by name for all my stations, and was OK with the sporadic manual time server change, but don't have time to mess with individual URLs.
Have about 8 Rokus on Ebay now, take a look.

I snagged three Squeezeboxes this weekend, tablets would have been OK but like to simple straightforward access to streams.
Keeping two M2000s for living room and home theater as cute pixelated retro clocks.

Goodbye to all, and thank for always being there for me when I needed it, from the PSU upgrades and quasi-defunct Roku revivals, to server resets, and much more.  It has been a good 10 years :!:

Yes, if they were the existing url's they don't work. As Steppi was kind enough to outline, Go to  www.vtuner.com -> (then find the station you want to listen to),  right click on Play-button -> save the file -> open the file with a texteditor -> ( i used wordpad, you can't just double click the saved file - it won't or may not open in word pad, and possibly you can't find it to open in wordpad until you have wordpad look at ALL FILES in the directory where you saved it because it is not a .txt file), if you just copy the streamlink you want -> paste the streamlink in the preset of your soundbridge webinterface -> scroll to the end of the page and click save..."

The original url I had listed in B5 preset for smoothjazz.com was -  http://smoothjazz.com/streams/smoothjazz_128.pls - that address no longer works, following Steppi's method I found the address to smoothjazz.com to be  http://sj256.hnux.com/      I put that address in A1 preset url box, renamed the A1 name from whatever was there before, and it works!
You do have to scroll down on the Roku and choose a preset to get it to play, which is not how i used my unit in the past -

Yes, I was using the existing URL's. I'll enter the new ones and give it a try.
Thank you,

From reading various posts I've found a workaround that allows me to use my Soundbridge! It's going to take you some effort but, if you manually enter the URLs for radio stations in the Presets section of your Roku Dashboard you can then play those stations through your Soundbridge. To access your Dashboard proceed as follows with your Remote Control:
Menu/System Configuration/Show WiFi Status/IP Address. (You'll have to scroll up/down with the Remote to find these entries)

The IP address you find should be 192.168.1.X where is will be a unique number for your system. Enter that IP Address into a Browser and you'll be presented with the Roku Dashboard. Then click on the Presets tab.

Now the only problem you'll have is finding the URLs for stations you want. This is the frustrating part. Do a search on such terms as "WCBS Streams" (I just chose WCBS as an example.), a station call letters followed by "m3u" or "pls". Some radio stations will actually post their URL on the Station Web Site - not too many though. You can also use the following great source I've discovered    <https://forum.chumby.com/viewtopic.php?id=9053>. Caution, many of the URLs will NOT work, but quite a few do. One from the document that is active  - sort of a proof of concept - <http://www.beatlesradio.com:8088/listen.pls>. It's strictly Beatles music. But you get the idea.

If anyone has additional good sources of URLs please post them to the Forum!

Good luck one and all.

:D

Re: Radio stations no longer work

I must be missing something. I tried the www.vtuner.com approach. When I click on Save Link as... (on OS 10.12.6 on a Mac I guess is how it's displayed) and then open the saved document in TextEdit I observe a single URL this isn't in an MP3 format ending with mp3 or pls or m3u. For example, I attempted to obtain the Stream URL for radio station KSCO and this is what vtuner.com produces:

http://184.105.148.154:8000/live

Can anyone help to show me how to obtain URL Streams in vtuner.com?

I believe you are doing it correctly. I tried the get the URL for KSCO the way I got all of my working URL's, I get the same result as you. Almost none of the working URL's end in mp3, or the other extensions you listed. Have you tried the KSCO URL in the Soundbridge?
