tmcalabro:

No, I haven't tried that URL because, previously,  I found a working URL for KSCO by some other means that I've been unable to recall. The working URL is almost identical. What does work is: <http:/184.105.148.154:8000/live.m3u.

Try as I might I've been unable to locate the source that I originally obtained the URL ending in m3u. That's why it would be great if vtuner approach worked and why I used the working KSCO URL for a test.

Thank you for verifying that I'm at least using the vtuner approach correctly.

Another tip to keep in mind is that if you find a stream with an https in it, the Soundbridge cannot handle it. You can try changing that https to http and that may work.

the Stream URL for radio station KSCO and this is what vtuner.com produces:

This is the streamlink. Paste this link in a preset of your sb and enjoy :-)!

Please visit the infosite of the Station: http://184.105.148.154:8000/
See the Icecast-serverstatus!

The mountpoint of the stream is /live .
Icecast-servers uses mountpoints like this.
No ".mp3" is important. Soundbridge plays .asx, .pls, .wma, .aac (without drm!) mp4-audio and more.

Hi all.

Great workaround posted on this forum thankyou. However hasn't worked for all stations for me though. These BBC Radio URLs don't work on my Soundbridge (keeps retrying) yet work fine on Windows Media Player on my PC. Any ideas?

BBC Radio 1 http://bbcmedia.ic.llnwd.net/stream/bbc ... adio1_mf_p

BBC Radio 2 http://bbcmedia.ic.llnwd.net/stream/bbc ... adio2_mf_p

BBC Radio 6 http://bbcmedia.ic.llnwd.net/stream/bbc ... music_mf_p

And Ambient Sleeping Pill now keeps reconnecting and plays for a few minutes in one go at best http://radio.stereoscenic.com/asp-h

Cheers for any help!

I posted this to RokuLabs, and pretty much expected nothing back----" I know that Roku no longer supports my old M1001 streaming device but could someone answer a question PLEASE??? all of a sudden I no longer can connect to any channels or the Roku server. I can connect to my wi-fi and input choices but it just keeps Re-trying stations....what the heck went wrong and why is it not connecting?? the player is still setting up but cannot connect?? Just a little help PLEASE????"

My opinion is that they, "Roku" just cut us off, plain and simple...since I can't connect to to Roku for data uploads or software updates. I guess we're all done, that's the thanks you get for using the product loyally for all these years. We had a good run but I think it's over.  Believe me I've tried every reset in the book and got nothing!  I'll keep checking here occasionally for a better answer. I have kept my M1001 running with repairs for years.  SAD!

All is not lost! I also doubt if Roku will respond to your request but would be very interested and delighted if we're wrong. That being said I strongly suggest to scroll through all the prior posts in this Thread. I use my Soundbridge every day, but only the Presets. You can populate the Presets buy entering the IP of your Soundbridge. To determine the IP setting of your Soundbridge proceed as follows (using your Remote Control).
Menu →Settings →System ConfigurationShow WiFi Status → IP Address 192.168.1.X, where "X" will be unique to your Soundbridge.

Enter that IP into your Browser and then look for the Presets Settings.

Look for previous postings on how to determine the URLs for the radio stations you want to listen to. This is this biggest challenge. Good Luck!

Hope this helps and, if you find good methods for determining URL please post it to this Forum.

I abandoned the Roku server and am having (some) success streaming Internet Radio from iTunes. This works using Windows 10, iTunes 12.7, and VisualMR V2.0
VisualMR is a windows app that allows control of the SoundBridge M1001 (download here - http://www.tl-it.de/media/pages/visualmr.php?lang=e)
In iTunes 12.7, Internet Radio is hidden (by default). To enable it, hover your mouse over the word "Library" in the upper-left screen, and the word "Edit" will appear.
Click "Edit" and put a checkbox in Internet Radio. Once Internet Radio is enabled, you can select streams from approx. 25 genre, and paste them into a custom playlist.
The SoundBridge needs to connect to your iTunes library. So, in iTunes, make sure that Sharing is enabled and Restrictions are disabled (both found under Edit > Preferences).
I have encountered some technical issues;

  1. Unfortunately, no streaming channels in the library will play when selected from the Soundbridge menu. Every channel displays "The music format is not supported".
  2. Some streaming channels in the library won't play when selected from the VisualMR interface: Libraries (double-click your library) > Playlists (double-click your playlist) > right-click the song > Play this song only
Overall, it's not a perfect solution but I am elated to have brought life back into my SoundBridge. When you find music streaming channels that do work (from a selection of thousands), this allow far more than 18 presets in the SoundBridge, and allows control from the comfort of your PC. iTunes also allows you to add streaming channels found on the internet to your custom playlist.
Hope this information is (somewhat) useful.
Best of Luck and Happy Listening!

Thanks for the 'preset' tip. I actually had the station preset, but noticed the URL was different on vTuner than the one Roku provided. Original did not work, new one does.  Perhaps there's been a general path format change for internet players that Roku has slept through?  Though, when trying to update software I do get error 408 timeout, so there's that.  Maybe they did some sort of dev ops updates and no-one there remembers the audio products so the servers lost their links.

Otherwise, I must say, bad form for Roku to silently kill service to it's original installed base if that's the case.  Reason for me not to upgrade my Roku video box.  Many other options out there nowadays.

But the Soundbridge is just so cool looking!

Sad.

Both my Soundbridge too went down... I also found by going into their IP address I too could manually put in the URL from radio stations into the Presets. If the URL can be shown by playing the website feed into VLC then right click and the click 'Stream', copy and past into the Preset and name it above. Also... I still use Jamcast to play from my Laptop to the Soundbridge - playing any sound from it over to the Soundbridge.

Sure would be cool if Roku decided to open source the server and firmware source code. Then they would no longer need to deal with maintaining the server, and we could update it to support third-party servers. Also, I'm sure our little community would be happy to improve on the firmware (I've long wanted to use my Roku's to display other data on the screens). As a developer, I'd be happy to work on it.

I would love for Roku to open the firmware and roku server up - the soundbridges I have still work great, and I think with some tweaks to their firmware would continue to be useful for a long while to come.

Hi I appreciate the work around with adding the presets. I have my soundbridge back in action. However I can not get a stream for WNYC to work. Does anyone have one that is a winner?
Thank you in advance for any help!
