A very strange thing has happenned and I am at a loss to figure it out. I have two SB M1001 (one Pinnacle badged, one Roku badged) configured identically. We had set both up with our own set of Internet Radio presets (most of the BBC stations, some Virgin stations etc). Both units have been playing fine for nearly a year.
On the morning of Monday January 14th at around 07:00 GMT, the presets were playing fine. Later that morning, the BBC ones would no longer play. The soundbridge acts as if it is playing them but there is no sound and it kind of 'hangs' and stops responding to the remote control. Eventually it recovers and we can switch away from the station back to our media server etc. Both units behave identically. Nothing had changed about our local setup (I was away on business at the time and I'm the only one who can change anything). The situation still persists. The BBC URLs we have in the presets play fine on our assorted PCs so there is no general connectivity problem or Internet issue. Both soundbridges play media from our TVersity server just fine, again with no problems so there is no local LAN issue (it is 1 GB wired). The Virgin Radio presets work just fine. I tried upgrading the units to the latest firmware Beta 3.0.49 but no difference.
Anyone any ideas? Did the BBC make some change to their streaming on 14th jan that 'broke' the soundbrige?

Certainly 5Live is down at present but AFAIK the other principal BBC stations are playing ok. Certainly last I checked a couple of days ago Radios 2&4 were playing fine.
WRT 5Live, we'll have to wait for Roku to issue a fix as it seems the Beeb have changed the way they stream that station.

the BBC have been working on only making their services available to the people within the UK (people in the UK pay a license fee that funds the BBC). Access to their services from IP address outside the UK are slowly being denied. Only some services are going to be offered outside the UK via subscription or ad suported etc.
The way to confim this would be to try the stream on your PC instead of the soundbridge.

Actually I don't think this is anything to do with the restriction of services to the UK. All the Real audio streams are available worldwide (why?), and it's only Radios 1 to 4 that are UK limited in WMA format. It would be simple for the BBC to restrict all audio streams on the basis of IP addresses - as they already do for four radio streams, and to limit video to low bandwidth, and to place adverts on the web site (which shocked me when I first saw them recently).
I can no longer get Radios 5 and 6 in UK or in France through Soundbridge - but they are both available in both countries via Widows Media Player. What puzzles me is that the changes the BBC have made upset the Roku software and not the WMP. Is the Roku configuration somehow non-standard. And why didn't the 3.0.49 fix deal with the latest changes as well. Why should BBC make changes to Radios 5 and 6 only . . . .

Hi,
All my BBC stations stopped working and I didn't know why, so I looked up on these forums.
Looking at other forum entries, I saw that there is the above beta upgrade. I have installed that and it has fixed issues I had with BBC Radio 2,3,4 and 4LW. I could not get any of these to work before.
However, I still can't get a varying list of Radio 5 live URLs to work. Radio 6 has stopped working, as has Radio 5 Live sports extra.
Has anyone installed the above beta version and got Radio 5 or 6 to work ok?

Can confirm that as of 11pm 31/1/8 Radio6 is also offline. 5Live has been down for a few days already, apparently Roku are on the case but this represents a further annoyance in the BBC toying with their streams. How long before 1-4 go down? That really would be tedious.
