Real Audio Streaming - Echoes NPR Program

Sun Mar 30, 2008 6:11 pm

I just subscribed to Echoes online. It's a streaming subscrption to NPR's weekly FM broadcast. It's proprietary to Real Audio.

Can this be streamed through my ROKU :?:

The formats that the Soundbridge supports, along with those which it currently fails to support have been discussed on MANY occasions in these forums - Use the search button at the top of the page to read about all such matters

FYI - ECHOES is from PRI, not NPR. Great show and great people - I used to work with them.

My wife and I love Echoes. Up to now we've been recording on cassette. I downloaded this prgram but can't figure out how to play through Roku. The software help says they don't yet support paid streaming so I guess I'm SOL.

The Soundbridge doesn't support Real Audio streaming, but there may be an alternative.

It looks like Echoes is available as a free podcast from iTunes, so you could install iTunes and subscribe to Echoes as a podcast. The Soundbridge would then be able to find and play the podcast. It looks like its just the interviews that are on the podcast, so I'm not sure that its exactly the same. But you can Google "echoes podcast" for some links to it.
