Great news

Wed May 20, 2009 9:11 am

Hello RokuJamesL,

So very happy to see this post! I used the SoundBridge with the last beta of Windows 7 and tinkered with the "play to" option is uses. I can't recall if it was 100% though. Seeing that there is now a place for feedback, I may insall the latest RC and tinker somemore and get back to y'all.

Have you used any SoundBridge units and Windows 7 in the lab at Roku?
What have you seen or found out thus far?

Regards, Matt

My SoundBridges work fine with Windows 7 RC, Firefox, Firefly, iTunes...

But why on earth do we need this sticky in the "SoundBridge General" forum? When Windows 7 Final will be released, the SoundBridges (and Radio Roku) will be as dead as Ötzi the Iceman.

The images of the SoundBridge and the BrightSign products have disappeared from www.roku.com. Honi soit qui mal y pense...

Dupondt,
How about RadioRoku and IE8? I thought there was some bug in IE8 (or RadioRoku) that make the two not play well in one screen?
Can you confirm if "Play to" and WMC V5.0 (in WMP12) still works with the current RC and the SoundBridge line? Plus you can save me from having to download the current RC untill I have more time.
Thanks, Matt

Hi Matt,

How about RadioRoku and IE8? I thought there was some bug in IE8 (or RadioRoku) that make the two not play well in one screen?

I am aware of one issue with IE8 on Windows 7 (and Vista) and Radio Roku: The search widget on the homepage does not work if you click the Search button (it works, however, if you enter a search string and then hit Enter). Strangely enough it works A/OK with IE8 on XP, so I guess this is an issue that Microsoft should resolve (Roku won't resolve it anyway).

Can you confirm if "Play to" and WMC V5.0 (in WMP12) still works with the current RC and the SoundBridge line?

"Play to" works fine with the exception that it won't wake up the SoundBridge from standby. WMC works A/OK, but I admit that I only tested this with a library of three songs (the demo tracks).

Plus you can save me from having to download the current RC untill I have more time.

As you and I know very well there are much more important things in life than Release Candidates

Hi Bob,

The SB products are still on the website and still for sale, although they make them harder and harder to find all the time. You now need to look at the page footer to find links to those products.

And now the images are back and the links in the footer have gone. I wonder if Roku's web designer in an earlier life was involved in designing the PSU of the R1000

For those of you with issues around the new Play To feature, you can find further guidance at this thread (discussing beta/RC versions): http://forums.rokulabs.com/viewtopic.php?t=19161

Dupondt, you are onto something. It appears that there are no reported power supply problems with the Roku Digital Video Player.

If anyone is using Windows 7 RC on a NetBook, be aware just how much extra performance you’ll get by swapping-out the usual OEM 5400rpm hard disk for a 7200rpm unit, and using a SanDisk 4Gb Extreme III as a “ReadyBoostâ€
